From Fortnum & Mason

Made from English mint specially grown for Fortnum’s on the Malshanger Estate in Hampshire. The bracing icy freshness of this wonderful caffeine-free infusion is positively Antarctic. Unbelievably refreshing, our English Mint Infusion Tea is a real treat for mint lovers everywhere.

Adventageddon Day 14 – Tea 2/4

Usually I try to make sure my first tea in the morning is caffeinated, but these Fortnum & Mason teas aren’t in an over wrap so for most of advent season they’ve been the first thing I’ve drank each day since they’re less easy to transport.

This was actually delightful though as a morning tea, aside from the no caffeine part. I was up so early today and so I got to enjoy the crisp, cooling peppermint as the sun came up. Definitely a peppermint with a slightly more earthy and less “pure” taste to it, but really nothing to turn your nose up at either!

Fortnum & Mason Advent Day 14 (sachets)

The description says English mint, the ingredient list simply says “peppermint”, and the flavor says “spearmint”!

This tasted so much like spearmint instead of peppermint that I googled the plant. Every listing from plant nurseries to recipe sites said that English mint tastes like spearmint and I agree. Two steeps, both great. Very sweet and refreshing, reminiscent of my homemade butter mints (which are made with peppermint oil so go figure) or spearmint gum.

Nice!
