Mostly when I think of winter-themed teas I think of spices like cinnamon and clove or oranges. This tea goes a completely different route with its creamy lemon flavour that reminds me so much of some lemon-flavoured macarons that I bought recently. A very light and elegant blend.

This smells much more vanilla than it tastes, which doesn’t much surprise me about a white tea. But yes, I can taste a light vanilla and a little lemon. It smells sweeter than it tastes. I don’t think I’d reach for this white over some others, but it was nice to try. Thanks, Sil!

This is nice. I love the lemony creaminess of this tea. I’m not really getting grassy like other people said, though.

I want to enjoy this with a nice piece of lemon shortbread.

This is actually the third tea I’ve today. I should go log the others, too. I’m still sick and the cough medicine is making me loopy.

I have about 2t of this left, enough for a small mug (I usually use a 15 oz mug) so I’m adding it back to the wishlist.

Aaargh! I had a biopsy this morning. It didn’t hurt much afterwards. More like soreness/tenderness/discomfort. But not pain. Until I lifted the kettle wrong while making this tea. Doc said no heavy lifting, but it’s just a kettle! Yeah, now it really hurts. Ice pack time! I’m just going to assume that ice packs are ok. Not that the cold is penetrating the gauze and tape very well anyway. Blargh.

At least this tea doesn’t suck. I don’t know that it’s worth physical pain, but it is tasty! The dry leaf smells overwhelmingly of vanilla, with a hint of lemon. Brewed, the smell is creamy lemongrass. I’m tasting mostly lemongrass. Where did that enticing vanilla go?! As the tea cools, some vanilla flavor comes through at the end of the sip. But so does a bit of dryness and… astringency? That’s weird for a white tea.

I decided to see how this would go with a lemon macaron. French tea calls for a French confection, non? The sweetness of the macaron brought out some more of that vanilla flavor. But the more this cools, the more the dryness comes out. I’m really not enjoying that aspect. The lesson here is not to let this tea cool!

MissB thoughtfully added this to my stash sale purchase because it was on my wishlist. Thank you so much!

TeaLady441

Oh no – hope everything is ok!

Ooh, this has yet to get cold on me, I’ll have to try it. It definitely needs a lower temperature though. I’m glad at least you pampered yourself. :)

Kaylee

D’oh! I already drank all of it. I should probably be steeping whites at a lower temp in general :-/

This is exactly what I was expecting. Creamy vanilla with lemon. Those aren’t my favorite flavors, but this is well done in the usual Fauchon fashion.

Thanks so much Sil for sending me a sample of this one.

Sil

NP. not my favo either but it was interesting enough to enjoy a few cups

Terri Harplady’s description of this tea yesterday as “vanilla wafers, with lemon added” is probably the most accurate description of this tea you will find. It is delecate and sweet with a nice creamy lemon quality. Delicious. Thank you Sil for sharing!!

Another sipdown, this one from the BBBBox, courtesy of my steep-sister Sil.
I don’t have anything to say about it, so instead I’ll tell you that my Lily of the Valley’s are blooming! Yay!

I wish I could grow Lillies of the Valley. It’s too hot here :(

Terri HarpLady

Maybe you can grow them inside?

MzPriss

That’s a thought if I can keep my dogs out of them. I love them so much – they’re so pretty and my very first perfume I ever got to wear (a gift from my grandmother) was Muget and it was Lily of the Valley. That is a very happy memory. Thanks :)

Stephanie

I love the scent, too.

When I was a kid my mom made barbie clothes & sold them to all of the neighborhood moms to use for gifts for their daughters’ barbies. So, these were no ordinary doll clothes, they were really ritzy. I never actually played with my barbie, I wasn’t into dolls, but she was decked out! She had a mink stole (knitted angora), all kinds of fancy formals, & plastic life size lilies of the valleys. I loved those flowers, but I didn’t actually know there were actual flowers that looked like that until much later, & they smell awesome!

This morning after a long walk through Central Park I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There were three exhibits I particularly wanted to see: The Fabrege one, Martin Guitars one and the Lost Kingdoms, which has very very old Buddha sculptures, among other things. When I got the Fabrege exhibit – there were SEVERAL different Lily of the Valley items – a really beautiful one made of jade and moonstones I believe – which I took a photo of. When I got the Martin guitars, there were several harps there as well. One of them was a very cool Welsh triple harp. I love the Met it’s filled with wonders and today I thought of Terri HarpLady while I was there.

MzPriss

Sorry about my typos :(

Terri HarpLady

Yay! Thanks for thinking of me! You know, I’ve never been to the Met, or New York, for that matter. I hope you’ll post any pics you took on FB, or elsewhere, I’d love to see them. :)

MzPriss

I’m not on FB – but I will get them up on my blog when I get home on Wednesday. I have a lot to put up as I am doing a lot of tea drinking/shopping and eating and the blog is the only where I think I have where other people can see them. But I really truly did think of you because there were several harps. The triple Welsh one was the coolest though. One of them was really beat up (or as we call it at my house – well loved).

Terri HarpLady

I love harps! I used to have a welsh triple, it was an interesting instrument, but not particularly practical to play, so I sold it, LOL.
