Thanks for this one Starfevre!

Man, I don’t know what to make of this one. Its like you dump a cup of black caramel tea in with a cup of green jasmine and drink them together. My brain just doesn’t know what to make of it! :-O

While the jasmine is quite strong and floral in this blend, the caramel is a lot more subdued, almost hidden in the flavours. The base tastes of both ingredients in it, black and green tea. I’m less fond of green tea so I could wish THAT were a little more subdued. It’s definitely got that ‘green’ flavour to it and I’m glad I steeped it at green tea parameters rather than my usual black tea ones. The floral aspect of this, though I usually like jasmine a little, I don’t like it this much so I don’t quite know what to do with the rest of this tea because I don’t think I want to drink it after this pot.

Got a sample of this from QueenOfTarts last summer!
She knew that I love jasmine teas, and I was just starting to enjoy dessert teas.

Who knew caramel and jasmine would work together?? The second I saw this tea, I was confused. Nice, sweet, dessert caramel, something that seems almost rustic (to me), with bright floral jasmine?? At first sniff, you get the caramel, then you just slowly inhale and you smell the brightness of the jasmine. And let me tell you, it smells impeccable!
It’s so weird! You can smell the caramel and jasmine separate from each other, even after brewing!

It’s so weird.
I’d like to say it works together, but I just get the dark dark caramel, and then an awkward bright floral aftertaste.

A lovely sample, and I was so excited when I get it in the package, so thank you QueenOfTarts, but sadly this is one jasmine tea I probably wouldn’t purchase for my own personal tea collection

I decided to continue with the French teas today with this very generous sample from Stephanie. This tea is very confusing to me. The dry leaf smelled heavily of caramel, but the steeped tea smells more like jasmine. I can taste both the floral and sweet notes in the cup. Also, my mouth seems to fill up with the floral flavor afterwards. It leans a little on the perfume-y side in that aspect. I also feel that there is something a bit nutty in the flavor as well? Overall, this tea is very overwhelming and confusing for me, so it’s hard to know what to think about it.

Stephanie

I agree with your assessment. A confusing tea! :/

I was surprised to see little caramel squares and jasmine flowers in this blend. Well, you might think, “duh.. it’s caramel & jasmine!” but I was expecting more of a plain blend without the chunky flowers and caramel… nice! The scent of this tea is lovely — sweet jasmine and buttery caramel.

Sipping… oh, I like this! It’s heavy on the jasmine, but not so much that it becomes stinky or gives me a headache. The caramel follows closely behind and offers a lingering sort of sweetness. I also get a little bit of something like vanilla ice cream in the finish. Yum! The base is interesting… more green than black for me. Not astringent, but not terribly smooth either… something in between. Quite a nice and sweet tea. A good choice for when you can’t decide between flowers or dessert!

I’d never have thought of putting these flavours together, but ohh, I like the sound of this!
