New! Green Tea – Oliphant Estate Mao Feng – $8.00 (3.5 oz bag)
One of the very few green teas from Sri Lanka. This tea is harvested from China Jat leaves in the high elevation region of Nuwara Eliya. The dried leaves are large and well twisted and capable of multiple infusions. Liquor is flavorful because of the elevation. Use 1 gram (about 1/2 teaspoon) per cup at 170 F for 4 minutes.

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tea.

It’s really quite a lovely green tea. Sweet and very flavorful. It doesn’t have a grassy undertone to it at all, and very little real vegetative taste. It has that smooth, sweet taste that you might associate with a green tea but without the strong vegetative note. Light buttery notes to it as well. A very pleasant Mao Feng.

OH! Well…this one just looks, smells, and sounds special! The aroma is NOT loud and the leaves are different from most greens I have seen. This ‘brews up’ darker than most greens I have seen too! As for the taste it’s great! It’s a very sweet green! Not grassy or bitter at all! Very flavorful…incredibly sweet for a green, actually! I really like this!
