From Eastcott & Burgess Tea Bottega

This tea is created differently to other Chinese green teas, as it is wok-roasted by hand to give its leaves the flat appearance and the rich nutty flavour.

The tea takes its name from the eponymous “Dragon Well” located near Longjing village, the origin of this tea; due to the nature of the water that the well contains, after rainfall, one can supposedly see shapes in its waters that were thought to resemble the Chinese dragon.

According to the legend, The Kangxi Emperor’s grandson of the Qing dynasty, the Qianlong Emperor, visited West Lake during one of his famous holidays and was so impressed by this tea that it was granted the status of Gong Cha, or imperial tea, by the Kangxi Emperor.

Origin: Highlands of Zhejiang, China – 2016.

Really rich scent and flavour. This tea definitely deserves ordering and tasting :) My attention was immediately captivated by the design of the packaging and especially the tin (caddy). The tin has a tight cap and a lid which gives confidence that tea will last longer and oxidise less! The weight (I ordered 30g) is written by hand which makes it super special and original. And by the way, the tin actually looks really good, would be interesting to see some experimentation of other designs in the future!

Okay, the tea itself! Very rich and hazelnutty (toasted), I did not use much water as per recommendation, so I could re-brew it a couple of times and it still tasted just as strong!

Thank you so much Viktoras, greatly appreciated! We will probably not consider re-designing tins soon as we have designed it especially to ensure the optimal storage conditions, but the feedback is hugely appreciated! Yulia X
