From DAVIDsTEA

Gather around the fire and pour yourself the perfect marshmallow. Warm yourself with the nostalgic flavour of melted milk chocolate and a gooey, slightly burnt marshmallow. Like a s’more without the graham cracker, this tea smells of burnt sugar and tastes like a campfire.

How it tastes
Nostalgic flavours of melted milk chocolate and gooey burnt sugar

What makes it great

A rooibos take on our famous S’mores Chai.

Gooey vegan marshmallows add real-life nostalgia to every sip.

Our decadent chocolate is nothing short of a fine-dining s’mores experience.

This is pretty tasty. I get a lot of chocolate and also flavoring that tastes similar to marshmallow, though there aren’t many actual marshmallows here. It’s nice warm or cool with milk. It’s almost as rich as having a milk hot chocolate. I have to say that I liked it much more the first time I had it. The second time I still enjoyed it, but there was something a little weird about how the flavor turned out. The third time, I tried it with soy milk and a shorter steep, and it’s nice and rich. I wouldn’t order this again since it’s a little inconsistent from mug to mug, but I’ll finish it easily.

Tasted sickly sweet. Wrong mix of flavorings

T is for… Toasted Marshmallow!

Still really like this one – creamy and sweet and satisfyingly desserty. Rooibos barely present.

We launched a couple teas last week inspired by late summer nights/the end of summer and of course a collection like that wouldn’t feel complete without something inspired by camping! Queue… Toasted Marshmallow!

Long, long DT fans might remember that we carried a tea in the past called Toasted Marshmallow – just to be super clear, this is not the same tea. It’s a new tea/new approach to that flavour entirely. Specifically we imagined what a rooibos based version of S’mores Chai might look like. As such, this isn’t just a marshmallow blend – it’s also definitely a chocolate blend. Very creamy and smooth milk chocolate with just a bit of that burnt sugar/caramelized sugar gooey marshmallow goodness!

I’ll be honest, I’m not personally enamored with this blend because I just find it too chocolate forward personally – I would want wwaaaayyyy more marshmallow in a “Toasted Marshmallow” blend. There’s a lot of power to a name, and I find this one creates a very specific image that the tea doesn’t perfectly mesh with. Plus I also just don’t love chocolate teas very much. So, it’s more of a matter of personal preference and interpretation…

That said, I do think fans of S’mores Chai who want something similar without either the punch of caffeine or the pu’erh base will probably be really happy with this as an alternative. It’s a nice sweet and indulgent rooibos blend, for those looking for one.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
