(DavidsTea 2022: 72)

Slight derailment from the alphabet; I brewed this (new-to-me) tea up without thinking, and didn’t want it sitting in the fridge for another week or so until I hit “M”! As is, I let it infuse for at least 2 days.

It’s fairly sweet, with a nice ripe mango flavour but a bit of a chemical aftertaste. It contains black tea but I can’t really tell – it mostly tastes like a fruit tea. It will be tasty enough for a summer option but probably not a tea I’d purchase again.

I am fascinated that Roswell Strange found this was too tart because for me, this is crazy sweet. It smells like mango and tastes a bit like dried mango that is often sweeter than the actual fruit. Plus, the candied pineapple is really coming through. It’s very sweet and very juicy and my experience, at least in this first cup, is the opposite of Roswell’s which is interesting since she is the one who gave me the tea so it’s not like we got drastically different batches.

Thanks for sharing, Roswell Strange!

ETA: This is a sipdown (358) since I drank the entire cold brew bottle. It was sweet the whole way through so I am fascinated what made my batch so sweet while Roswell Strange’s was tart.

So when I’m writing a bunch of tasting notes in one evening, like right now, I generally do it while in bed because it’s just more comfortable…

From where I’m sitting right now, the tin of Mango Sunrise is directly across the room from me. It’s a good thing too because I had a hot cup of this a few weeks ago back when my mom was visiting that I paired with some fancy vegan sushi that had a bunch of fruit in it. It was really good and I wanted to capture the tasting note for it. I totally forgot though and, glancing up and seeing the tin just now, it helped me remember!

Sooo… note captured!

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
