How it tastes

Creamy, refreshing and delicately sweet

What makes it great

Made with an energizing base of finely ground matcha green tea from Aichi, Japan.

We added a splash of hydrating coconut water for a deliciously thirstquenching pick-me-up.

Amazing as an iced tea or whipped up into a frothy iced latte.

50 g of this tea makes around 10-12 16 oz cups of hot tea and 5-7 16 oz cups of iced tea.

Ingredients

Cane sugar, matcha green tea, coconut water powder (dextrose, natural flavours, maltodextrin, silicon dioxide, medium chain triglycerides, sodium caseinate), coconut flavouring.

Sipdown! 150/365!

One of the tastier non-berry matchas I’ve tried recently, this was definitely reminiscent of the sweetness of coconut water as opposed to the creaminess of coconut flesh/milk. I had it with milk and thought it was quite delicious, though the light flavour probably wouldn’t hold up in any sort of blend (not that I do that, but others do).

The fourth tea from today’s Superfood Tea collection!

So far I’ve only had it iced, but…

I really like this matcha; it’s very mild and delicate with a super refreshing and hydrating quality to it. I find the coconut tastes really natural to me; very comparable to the few times I’ve had actual coconut water. It also reminds me a little bit of the coconut flavour in DT’s Coconut Grove – a coconut white tea from many, many years ago that I adored. The weiredest and most uncanny part to me, though, is how the mouthfeel of this matcha feels so much like actual coconut water and not the regular consistency of matcha. It’s hard to explain; but it’s just different!

My fear about this tea is that people will find it too delicate/soft – but to me that’s the cool and interesting part of the tea. How often do you get to experience a flavoured matcha that not only has a delicate level added flavour but is just delicate in general. Usually matcha itself is a pretty bold flavour. My other fear is that people will expect something very creamy, intense, sweet and rich from the coconut (ala Coconut Cream Pie level of coconut) but it’s really important to remember that this isn’t a ‘Coconut Matcha’ but a ‘Coconut Water Matcha’. The expectation for flavour is definitely different between those two concepts…

This probably wont be for everyone; but I do think it’s very cool! I’m currently debating how much of it I need to stock up on for my own cupboard…

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I clicked on a DT newsletter for the first time in ever and was so freaking stoked when I saw this. Holy crap. I need it. I’m glad to hear that the coconut is more natural tasting.
