Yes, I drank this today as a cold brew too! I found an untouched 50g packet of this in the back of a kitchen cupboard and have no memory of purchasing it. Smells amazing though. The flavours in this cup are banana runts and bubblegum, with a strong dash of Squirt or some other type of grapefruit flavoured soda pop. The general consensus around the house is it would likely take to gin well.

Ooh, yes! I think this would be great with gin!

Crowkettle

Right? Btw, I also had no intention of making this hot until I read your notes, so seems I’ll have to play around with this one. :)

The main flavor here is definitely the grapefruit. The tea wasn’t spectacular hot, but cold, it was pretty tasty. I’ve had grapefruit teas I prefer, but grapefruit is slightly rare to find in tea flavors, so I’ve enjoyed having this one. I don’t taste any black tea (there was almost none in the blend) or banana. The grapefruit flavor could have been a little stronger still. I cold brewed the resteep overnight, and it tastes just as good as the first steep, BUT this time I’m tasting some banana! How nice.

teepland

Adding this to my Wish List. I love grapefruit and would love to find more teas that have grapefruit flavor in them!

AJRimmer

I would definitely recommend cococabana coola from Bird & Blend then! Grapefruit is the main note I got from that one!

Having this cold brewed. The flavor profile intrigued me. It is a refreshing iced tea with a bright and fresh notes from the grapefruit and creamy notes from the banana. Almost no “tea” is present in the blend that I bought. It was interesting to find out that it was a black tea base as none of it comes out in the liquor.

Nice and light. Not too sweet. Mostly grapefruit taste, not banana.

Tastes like a fruit smoothie. Grapefruit is not dominant, and banana makes the overall blend creamy.

Sample from variatea. :) I’m not a fan of David’s tea. I find them too expensive, not all that exciting and often they have too much damn stevia in their blends or other artificial sweetener. Ugh. But I DOlike trying new teas and I do like banana and grapefruit.

This one had good banana flavour but the grapefruit was sort of meh. That’s about all I remember from when I had it lol. I’ll have to try it again and see where I land again.

I’ve had this for forever but like many others, I haven’t written anything, just rated it. It’s very sweet like some of the other David’s Tea that I bought. I have only bought four so keep that in mind hehe. I have to do a fast rinse before drinking it for my taste buds. After a flash rinse. I brew it as recommended.

The banana is very creamy, that’s what I taste in the beginning. If I don’t rinse, I don’t taste it much but more sweetness. Then at the end of the sip, I get a quick grapefruit note. Neither is really that strong. It’s well-balanced. It sounds like a weird mixture but it doesn’t taste weird and the notes are well separated… meaning I didn’t get a weird muted mix but two distinct flavor notes. I love banana and I love grapefruit so this has always been a nice cup of tea. When I make it cold brew (I still have to do a flash rinse before), I don’t really get any of the citruses but more banana.

P.S. I wish I could change my profile. It’s really old and things have changed >.<. After I made it, I never was able to edit it (maybe once?) other than my picture. Tangent, I know. :P

Huh, I wonder why you are having profile edit problems? Maybe it’s a newer member thing? I think many of the Steepster problems have been more with newer members. I wish you could edit it though.

Nattie

I just edited my profile and it worked fine for me, but I have been a member for over 6 years so maybe that’s why. The only problem I’m having at the moment is that my ‘notices’ tab won’t open, so I’ve got 700 notifications every time I log in!

Kawaii433

It could be. I think I’ve been here for a little over a year. I can’t change it on my phone or on my laptop. There is what a get: Error 503 first byte timeout
first byte timeout

Nattie

I did actually get that a couple of days ago, but I refreshed the page and it’s been fine ever since

Kawaii433

Thanks, Nattie. I’ll keep trying. :D

Martin Bednář

I have same trouble with editing profile :/

Nattie

I tried to send a message to Inkling earlier and got the error screen but it turned out that it had actually sent anyway. Maybe try adding a test word or two to your profile and see if it saves despite the error message?

Kawaii433

Nattie, I do that each time. I just tried it now, same thing. I’m sorry you’re having the same issue too, Martin!

gmathis

Private messaging has not worked well for me in Google Chrome, but is fine a different browser (Microsoft Edge is OK, at least on my laptop).

Kawaii433

gmathis, the only way I can private message without getting that error is to save one private message link from an email notification, then I can get to it.

eastkyteaguy

I’ve been making sporadic attempts to update my profile info and have been having problems myself. I doubt that the age of one’s account has anything to do with it, because I’ve been here a little over four years and have the same issues. I can usually receive private messages, but I can hardly ever reply to them. For some reason, I can also not consistently make edits to my postings after submission. Oh yeah, I also still get constant 503 errors when I try to log in, and my content often gets eaten when I try to post anything. Am I the only person having all these problems? I find it hard to believe that I am, but I also notice that different people complain about having different issues with their accounts. I have often found it weird that so many of us seem to express frustration with the varying degrees of frequency and severity of different issues experienced on the same platform.

Kawaii433

eastkyteaguy Nope, you’re definately not alone. I stay logged in for that purpose. Sometimes if something happens and I get logged out, I run into 503 errors and there are times I think I’ll never be able to get back in again. Same with posts. I still can’t talk in the forum either. I can read them though but if I post there, it gives me the 503.

tea-sipper

eastkyteaguy – I was actually thinking that it was easier on accounts MUCH older than four years though – like ten years. But that is just my crazy theory, as I have some of the problems you mentioned anyway.

Kawaii433 – If you ever want me to post something in the forum on your behalf, let me know!

Kawaii433

Thanks for the offer, tea-sipper, I will remember that if I need something posted :D

Mastress Alita

I used to be able to post to the forums on this account, and then within the last few weeks, lost that ability. I made a brand-new, crap account (mastressalitaclone), and that account can post to the forums… so age of the account definitely has nothing to do with what errors seem to manifest for a person…

Kawaii433

Mastress Alita Thanks for the info. That clears that question up.

Banana Grapefruit? Nah fam, that sounds awful.

That’s what I thought to myself when I saw the name of this blend. I had completely written it off, and then I went to the DT website and saw that it was a fruity black tea blend. Uh, I love fruity black tea blends. I love banana black teas. I really enjoy grapefruit in tea as well. I put it in my cart with a few (sadly) retiring teas that I wanted to stock up on. I decided to wait it out for the next collection to drop. I’m usually a fan of DT’s iced tea/summer blends because I’m a proud member of #teamhibiscus, so I figured there was a decent chance that something new would come along that I’d want to try.

Welp, before that actually happened, someone in the FB fan group mentioned a 20% off code that worked on even the smallest quantity of tea sold on the website — 2 ounces on the US site, usually you have to buy 4 ounces or more of a specific tea to use these sorts of discounts. So, I bit the bullet. If I hated it, I could easily get through 2 ounces of tea if I made it iced, which is how I’d intended to prepare it anyway.

To my complete (and pleasant) surprise, I really enjoy it. I tried it both hot and iced, just to see if the notes varied vastly. They didn’t. The hot cuppa had a bit more of a pronounced grapefruit flavor to my tastebuds, but otherwise they tasted quite similar. It’s truly a fruit infusion with just a handful of black tea leaves. That’s not a complaint, just an observation. There’s minimal black tea flavor. It just adds some body, serving as a vehicle to carry the other ingredients. The banana note is there, but it’s more creamy, subtle banana flavor than in-your-face banana flavor. The mango really adds to the blend’s tropical juice vibes, and the grapefruit offers a light, zesty citrus note.

It sounds really weird combination of ingredients. But, it’s definitely worth a sample if you like fruity/tropical blends. I’ll be stocking up on this in the coming weeks.

There was a discussion the other day about how gross banana grapefruit SOUNDS, but I guess this tea is proving that wrong. :D

Roswell Strange

Haha – that was on my tasting note. I still don’t 100% understand the reason WHY it sounds so unappealing to people – banana/orange isn’t a wildly uncommon flavour combo, especially in smoothies (which is what this tea is based on)! Grapefruit, especially sweet grapefruit like this, isn’t that terribly far off from that pairing…

apieceofquiche

Despite being a native Texan who’s eaten her fair share of Ruby Reds, when I think of grapefruit, sweet isn’t the first (or second or third) word that comes to mind. So, yeah, it sounded odd…really odd.

I was so excited for this one, and it does not disappoint. I really enjoy the DavidsTea blends with banana chips in them, as I love the creamy sweetness that they add to the mix. I also love grapefruit, and it’s done perfectly here, reminding me of pink grapefruit sorbet. So refreshing and sweet. I get a good amount of the tropical mango as well.
Creamy banana, sugared pink grapefruit, and tropical, perfumey mango. I love the scent of this and wish that I could get it in a perfume, and it tastes as good as it smells. It’s sweet, but not overly so, and makes me feel like I’m on vacation at a tropical island. I’m usually not wild about fruity teas, but this one is hitting all the right notes for me, and I’m definitely going to be stocking up.
The tropical scent is wafting all around me from my cup this morning and it just makes me feel happy :)

Thank you for sharing Roswell Strange. This was quite good actually, creamy and a lot of grapefruit flavor. With a punch of banana. I am not a grapefruit lover so while I can appreciate the nice flavor, I dont think I’m the target audience.
