From DAVIDsTEA

How wild is this tea? Let’s just say it grew up on the wrong side of the strawberry patch. It stayed up late and hung out in cool bars – the kind where they spike frosty cocktails with a little sprig of rosemary. Crazy? Maybe. But we love its wild combination of fruity and herbal flavours. Bursting with strawberry, rosemary, hibiscus and vanilla, it’s sweet and refreshing. And it’s amazing iced. Go ahead – take a walk on the wild side.

ingredients

Apple (apple, citric acid), elderberries, raisins, hibiscus blossoms, beetroot, rosemary, strawberries, vanilla pods, natural and artificial strawberry-cream and vanilla flavouring.

Tried this iced and find that it tastes a lot like DavidsTea Strawberry Rhubard Parfait tea. I wasn’t a huge fan of that one and was glad I used up one of my free tea coupons to try it. I wish they would make up bolder unique blends instead of tinkering with similar blends that they already sell.

I’m glad I was able to try this in the store because this saved me money. My mom always talks about the wild strawberries and blueberries that used to grow near her farm when she was a child, and spoke of the epic, flavourful, tiny little berries she would pick at her leisure.

This hardly has any strawberry flavour, but at least it’s not overly artificial. It has that generic hibiscus and apple base flavour that many tisanes taste like. I was concerned about the rosemary because I cannot stand the stuff but oddly enough, I couldn’t taste any at all in spite of being ultra sensitive to it.

Nothing special.

Sipdown (608)!

I cold brewed the last two sachets of this that I had, and it was actually an amazing brew! For some reason, cold brewing this removed a lot of the tartness/acidity and drew out the vanilla/cream notes of the tea that are only sometimes present when you have it hot. So, it was a very lush, sweet and ripe strawberry flavour with a quite distinct vanilla creaminess! Strawberries and Cream – like a Campino type flavour. Add to that a very savory/herbaceous and distinct rosemary finish, though – it’s quite an interesting flavour combination but it all works so delightfully. I deeply enjoyed this last experience with this tea.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Visited my local DavidsTea in search of the new mugs, I need to have the blue egg shell sheep mug. I toyed with the idea of getting the colour changing sheep mug instead but stuck with my original plan. While I was there, I also bought 50g of the Wild Strawberry tea at the request of my oldest.

Dried, I found the scent of the leaf to be very similar to the Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait with a very creamy strawberry candy scent. Brewed the liquid becomes a clear rose colour with a sweet creamy aroma. Taste wise, I picked up more of a sweet apple and hibiscus flavouring.

I was hopping for more of a strawberry taste. My oldest absolutely loved her cup of tea. Before I give over the remaining bag of tea to her, I want to try it iced.

I totally agree, it wasn’t nearly as strawberry as I would have liked.

My oldest loves it, which is great, so if I don’t like it iced I won’t worry that the leaf will go to waste. Hoping iced or a cold brew brings out more of the flavour.

Roswell Strange

Huh, interesting – I actually thought the strawberry was really potent. I did try it iced, rather than hot though: maybe that makes a difference?

The blue sheep mug is cute! I actually got the grey colour change one, to the chagrin of my boyfriend. The deciding factor for me what the fact that the GORGEOUS pear print/pattern is featured on the colour change one. I need that pattern in my life…

Roswell, my oldest loved it said she could drink it all day (she is also more of a coffee drinker that I am trying to convert lol). It could be she got more strawberry in her scoop. I have also been told by others who tried it that they found it very strawberry flavoured and that it was iced.
