This seems to be another one of those polarizing teas – people either love it or hate it. I really enjoyed it – just like I loved the similar Peanut Butter Cup from last autumn. This has coconut instead of chocolate but it has the same nuts-and-honey flavours with a hint of baked oats. If you haven’t tried it as a latté I really encourage you to (same goes for the Peanut Butter Cup).

Upon opening my sample, I caught the scent similar to last years peanut butter cup tea. Taste pretty similar too. Still not a fan though.

It’s a good thing that DAVIDs has this as the TOTD because it saved me money! I stopped in on the way to the grocery store to check out the fall collection and was sorely disappointed in everything. This tasted like an even sweeter version of last year’s Peanut Butter Cup. The liquor was quite murky, probably from the melted brittle. When the tea guide asked me what I thought of it and I said that it was a little sweet for my liking, she said that it is the rooibos that is making it so sweet. Lollerskates. No dice.

I’ve had worse but I’d preferably not want to have this ever again either. That money can now go towards something else.

Evol Ving Ness

Even sweeter, omgwowhellno.

Kristal

I did not like this either. Kinda upset my stomach ;/

Fjellrev

I know right? I couldn’t get over the sweetness.

Ew. Just ew. When I smelled this tea I knew that I wouldn’t like it – too nutty for my liking. (Hence the name, I guess) I tried it hot and really it just tasted like hot peanuts… I’m not a big nut fan. I was hoping it would be more like a granola bar taste but nope. I managed to finish my cup of this but I gave the rest of my sample away because I just really don’t like this.

The IG sipdown group I’m in suggested something nutty for my evening cuppa, so I made this one because we were talking about it in the chat a while back. Plus, my tin of it isn’t getting any younger…

It’s still delicious, with very rich and creamy almond and peanut butter type notes and just a little bit of fatty coconut. The top of the sip has more of those sweet apple notes, which do help carry the flavour a little bit IMO. It’s barely aged, which is shocking given that it is quite old. I feel like I say this every time I make this tea, but I still genuinely don’t understand how it was so hated when it launched.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Tried this 2 ways: regular cup and a latte.

Regular cup: 1 perfect spoonful steeped 5min in 8oz of 200F water: tastes nutty/peanuty and a little sweet in the foretaste, but what follows is kinda watery. Not so good.

Latte: 4 perfect spoonfuls steeped 5min in 8oz of 200F water, mixed with hot, frothed 1% milk: The foretaste is the same, but something weird and a bit gross lingers in the aftertaste (artificial flavoring? apple?). I didn’t care for whatever the aftertaste was, so I couldn’t quite finish my latte.

In short this is not a repurchase for me. Glad I only bought a small amount and used it up.

I don’t remember who, but someone said that this tasted exactly like Peanut Butter Cup from last fall. I completely agree, that’s exactly what this tastes like to me. I’m on the fence as to whether I’ll get more.

This smelled like granola. It was simultaneously impressive and weird because this was completely accurate, in scent, at least.

In taste, the granola flavor transfers over as well. It’s like granola but with melted peanut butter on it. Alas, there is also an underlying sweetness creeping around under everything else that really detracts from the whole thing. Some experimenting is needed and this isn’t my favorite tea but it captures the flavor you’d expect from the name so that is a good start.

On another note, today I discovered mold in my push button iced tea tumbler. It was not a fun discovery especially because when I went to clean it the little rubber stopper fell down the drain and disappeared forever. I took it as a sign to say goodbye :(.

Also, why does this have the pic for the Pom Cider tea?

Roswell Strange

Hmm; interesting. This is the blend that I personally found least appealing; in concept and dry smell. Still haven’t tried it yet. Sorry the hear about your tumbler, though. I hate when teaware bites the dust.

Plunkybug

Mine smelled and tasted very weird.

Roswell Strange

Well, tried it – and it’s actually my favourite overall from the whole collection. Huh.

VariaTEA

Haha, RS, glad you enjoyed it.

And Plunkybug, I am sorry you didn’t. I don’t think this is a favorite for me but it’s pleasant enough to get through the sample pack I grabbed.

Plunkybug

I’m thinking of trying it again just in case it was me and not the tea.

If you ever had Peanut Butter Cup from last years fall collection, you’d know exactly how this tea tastes. When I say exactly, I actually mean it. To me, this did not taste granola-y at all. They really should’ve just called it Nutty Crunch. .Mind you, I did like it because it reminded me of PBC, but it’s not a tea I would buy again

Sometimes I wonder if these are real tasting notes or advertisements.

Kittenna

I think it’s kind of both, but they aren’t rating them, so it’s ok. This is how DavidsTea thinks the tea smells/tastes/looks (or should), and that’s ok. It can guide a drinker’s expectations, IMO.

SaiFai

I own around 2/3 of the davids tea loose leaf teas…I have never said I hated a cup of tea…hate is a strong word too..but I will for sure use if for this tea it’s absolute garbage! and my unlucky self got 50g this as a free gift in one of their promotions so now I’m stuck with 100g of this gross tea that I wouldn’t even want to give away to someone I dislike because its so bad.. and I couldn’t possibly throw unexpired tea out so I’m just going to wait a year and throw it out so I can do it with a clear head

France

I love it period
