From DAVIDsTEA

it takes the cake
You know what never fails to remind us of fall? A carrot cupcake. And we’re not the only ones who think so. Thanks to their natural sugar content, carrots have been used to sweeten cakes since the medieval times. And this decadent, creamy rooibos blend tastes just like your favourite carrot dessert. It’s got cinnamon and ginger for an extra zing of warmth. Plus carrots and apple to get that perfect fruity balance. Still not convinced? The rich cocoa shells and natural whipped cream flavour will change your mind. Yeah, we knew you couldn’t resist…

Ingredients:
Carrot, rooibos, cocoa shells, cinnamon, apple, ginger, licorice root, natural whipped cream and apple flavouring.

I am obsessed with this one as a latte, but, surprisingly, I think I might like it better plain. Sweet and warming, with a hint of spice, this tea is perfect.

I opened the bag, and sniffed. Wasn’t in love with the smell. I then dumped a perfect spoonful into a Davids tea bag. Oh look! My teabag is defective and the tea is now ALL over the floor :D
I should have taken this as a sign. I brewed it. Took one sip – terrible. I tried again. Sometimes it takes me a minute to warm up to a tea. Nope. Life’s too short to waste precious time on sub-par tea. Down the sink it went.

I liked it! Was nervous to try this one after reading the reviews. For what you’re expecting (based on the name and dry/steeped smell) it’s not good at all lol. All I can taste is licorice and hot spices. Not what I was hoping for, but I really like licorice/spicyness so I still enjoy it. It’s a really beautiful orange color when steeped and I got two decent steeps out of one perfect spoonful in a large mug. Tried the second steep with a bit of milk (nice) and it didn’t bring any cake-like flavours out.

I’m always pretty nervous when I purchase new tea from David’s. I feel like I’ll either love it or hate it. I got this one as a free 2oz I racked up from points and was happily surprised when I tried it. I’m all about the rooibos lately and this one seemed an obvious choice.

The smell is delectable, as per usual with David’s Teas. It’s not as sweet as I expected and tastes a bit more… vegetable-y, which I assume is the carrot and ginger notes. Probably won’t become a staple on my shelf but I will enjoy the bit of it that I have this fall.

I had really high hopes for this one, it sounds so perfect. I love carrot cake, and it sounds like such a good warm spicy blend for fall. And it smells wonderful, very much like carrot cake. Unfortunately, the taste when brewed just doesn’t live up to the smell at all. No carrot flavor at all, no desserty/cakey flavor, and you’re left with a mild nutmeg-y/cinnamon tea. Unfortunately I think carrot is just a really hard item to get a flavor out of in a tea. Its not terrible, but I probably won’t repurchase.

Sipdown! 191/365!

This is actually pretty decent, and as I think I commented before, accurate to a spiced carrot cake. It’s sweet (with lingering licorice… bleh) and cinnamon-forward, and somehow conveys the cakiness of carrot cake as well. Wish I’d tried it with some milk for added creaminess! No sweetener needed.

I’ve been meaning to try this one for a while, but it never seems to be on sale, and I usually only buy when there’s a sale since I have so much tea! Carrot teas are just so good.

I received a sample for this tea. It smells lovely both before and after steeping. I find it does indeed taste like a carrot cupcake! (Without all the calories of course!) This tea would be fantastic as a hot tea latte I am 100% certain.

*Update: OMG!!! This is the best tea latte I have EVER had so far!

Kristal

It is lovely as a latte, but I’ve been mixing it with a chai rooibos cause the liquorice becomes really powerful

This is an alright tea. It has all that fall spice flavour to it, but I don’t know if it tastes like a carrot cupcake. It actually reminds me of Spiced Pumpkin, and Ginger Beer. Maybe a mix of that?? I really don’t know. But I don’t mind it. I bought 50g of it, but that’ll be all.
