From DAVIDsTEA

When it comes to summer treats, you can’t beat a frozen banana dipped in chocolate. Especially when it’s topped with chopped nuts, coconut flakes and sprinkles. And this sweet, rich blend tastes just like the real deal. It’s got ripe banana, fudgy chocolate chips and a hint of coconut for extra creaminess. Add a smooth base of green maté, and you’ve got the perfect beachside pick-me-up. Did we mention it makes the best iced latte? Trust us, this is one delicious indulgence you’ll go bananas for.

Ingredients: Cocoa shell, Banana, Sweet Blackberry Leaf, Chocolate Chips, Currant, Pineapple, Roasted Coconut, Green Mate, Natural Coconut-Cream and Chocolate-Banana Flavouring. Contains coconut. May contain milk.

Glad you liked it! This one is actually a yerba mate blend though; no rooibos.

Well, I cold steeped this one for a change. It’s quite delicious actually. I usually have this as a latte, but trying it cold steeped was something new for me (with mate blends anyway) It’s a good mix between chocolate and banana. I’m surprised I get as much chocolate as I do since the chocolate chips never melted. I’m getting a weird aftertaste which might be a slight hint of coconut… But yeah, this tea makes for a nice treat.

One of my favorite teas as an iced latte – tastes just like banana chocolate milk, even without any added sweetener. Speaking of sugar, I think it’s a bit TOO sweet when plain, adding milk cuts through the chocolate and banana so I’d never have it ‘black’, so to speak. I don’t taste any mate, but I tend to like mate blends anyway so your mileage may vary if you have a hard time with them to begin with.

I thought this blend would be a total trainwreck, as the ingredients don’t sound very good together. It was on sale though and I had to make the free item/free shipping limit. But I actually like it. The stevia is a little much, but it works better with the banana and coconut flavors than it would in some other teas with other flavors. Half the ingredients sounded like they would ruin the blend (blackberry leaves, currants, pineapple) and the remaining ingredients sounded like a delicious combination (banana, cocoa shells, coconut, chocolate chips). Luckily, I end up not really tasting the odder ingredients. I suppose this tea COULD have more of a banana and chocolate flavor, but I’m just glad it isn’t gross. I guess the base was yerba mate but I’m not sure how much yerba mate was here compared to blackberry leaves…. the yerba mate just ended up being another ingredient I couldn’t taste. Get rid of the fake sugars, Davidstea! Overall a nice flavor, but two teaspoons might be a little too much even with all these chunky ingredients.
Steep #1 // almost two teaspoons for a full mug// 12 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 minute steep

This is really good! Added a little honey and almond milk and it was such a treat. Delicious chocolate and banana mingling together. I could easily drink a lot of this. Wish I had bought more!

I absolutely love this tea. I first tried it as a part of the 2016 Carnival Collection and it was instantly a favourite. I picked up 80 g after that and then 250 g more in a tinzilla when it went on sale at 50% off. The tea actually tastes just like a frozen chocolate covered banana when it is made iced. I did not care for this tea hot, no matter how I tried preparing it though.

Massively backlogged sipdown.

I really enjoyed this one. The chocolate came through with a bit of sweetener and, while the banana was more scent than taste, it was still present.

I have never been a fan of banana teas but I tried this one out anyways, and I still feel the same way about banana teas. There was also a slight alcohol taste to it. Have tried hot, iced and iced latte, unfortunately it still didn’t work for me.

Dry leaf: Very ripe banana aroma, mixed with milk chocolate.

Liqueur: Deep orange colour. Ripe banana dominates with chocolate as the secondary aroma.

Flavour: Even balance of banana and chocolate. The blend is full and rich.

another one from variaTEA – wasn’t sure i’d like this one because of the mate. Turns out it’s not bad, just a little too sweet for me. The mate taste is buried, so that’s likely why i enjoyed it. Don’t think i’d pick up more of this on my own, but would drink it again if offered. It tastes like it’s name – chocolate + banana…just super sweet. I suspect this might make a decent latte to easy out the sweetness a little.
