From DAVIDsTEA

Bake it till you make it.

If you ask us, lemon pound cake is an unbeatable teatime snack. Buttery, tangy and not too sweet, it’s the perfect complement to our favourite cuppa. So, why don’t we have it more often? The answer is all in the name…The traditional recipe calls for a pound of sugar AND a pound of butter. No wonder it tastes so good. Luckily, our version is a little bit lighter – without sacrificing on flavour. We take a base of smooth-drinking oolong, then add fresh lemongrass, fruity lemon and a decadent touch of creaminess. Now that’s a treat you can enjoy all day, every day.

Ingredients: Oolong, lemongrass, lemon peel, sunflower blossom, white hibiscus, natural and artificial poundcake and lemon flavour.

I haven’t been to a David’s Tea in Forever, but I got a cup of this to go when I stepped in to get the spring collection today. I asked for this hot, along with sugar and soymilk. I wouldn’t say I got much “cake” flavoring out of this but it is very strong on the lemon flavor. I felt this tea was a bit too acidic for me and sure enough, when I checked the ingredients it does have hibiscus in it. I think perhaps this would be better as a latte. It would probably be good as an iced tea too. I can’t quite give it a high rating because it upset my stomach a bit. Overall it was tasty though.

Between a sensitive stomach and not being able to drink oolong teas, this one will be a pass for me.

This tea is simply amazing.

The smell of it literally smells the pound cake came straight from the oven ready to eat. I had it at the store in sample size. It was iced with no sweetner so I wasn’t to crazy about it. But I wanted to give this tea a chance because the smell was so amazing. It was like having lemon pound cake with no sugar in it so that’s why I didn’t like it at first. I bought a tin of it, and the first thing I did when I got home was make a latte with it. It was so delicious! I may sound weird saying this but you can actually taste the cake flavour in it. Go out and buy this tea!

I had a sample of this tea in store and liked it. I bought some and made a full cup of tea at home and it was so delicious. You can taste the lemon pound cake flavor. I also tried it iced and it’s not too shabby. It might just make it into my collection-but I better make up my mind soon because it’s a limited edition tea for Mother’s Day I think and it may run out fast. Oh, Decisions, decisions…

Tried this today in store first as a sample and was not initially impressed. Warm, and unsweetened it reminded me of those cleaning wipes you use on your counter. Determined to like it, i asked for it iced with some agave! This is when the tea really shined! The flavors came through so much more! It may sound silly but you can actually taste the pound cake! For lemon and cake lovers i would recommend this! Can’t wait to try this as an iced latte.

Update

Tried it as an iced latte and its AMAZING. such a great treat!
