Cool ‘stachio! There’s nothing quite like a bowl of ice cream. Even Roman emperor Nero couldn’t resist its frosty deliciousness. Legend has it he used to send runners into the mountains for snow, which was then flavoured with fruits and nuts. Though he had the right idea, it seems he was missing a key ingredient – pistachios. Sweet and salty, pistachio ice cream is just one of those desserts that keep us coming back for more. And with this nutty blend of black tea and crunchy pistachios, you’ll definitely want two scoops.

Ingredients
Apple pieces, black tea, sliced almonds, pistachios, sweet blackberry leaves, natural and artificial pistachio cream flavouring.

The smell of this tea is heavenly! Pistachio is my favorite ice cream flavor, so I came in with high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. I didn’t add any milk or cream to get more of the ice cream taste, but I loved the nuttiness of this tea. I only got this as a sample, but I’ll definitely be purchasing a full version.

This smells amazing! Reminds me of the fluffy green pistachio puddings I grew up with. Brewed up, there’s a decadent creamy flavour with nut flourishes from the almonds and pistachios. There’s also fruity hints from the apple and blackberry leaves. It definitely carries a nice dessert tea experience. Unfortunately, being a black tea, I’ll rarely be drinking it after dinner.

Meh.

If I’m heavy handed with the milk, it’s very creamy. Otherwise, it just tastes like sated nuts to me. I’m not even sure I’d say it tastes like pistachios. I definitely don’t get a cohesive pistachio ice cream.flavor from this, at any rate.

This one isn’t bad but I feel no need to repurchase.

When I first had this tea I loved it, however, the more I drank it the more I noticed the “artificial” flavoring coming through. Dissapointing how many of David’s teas have artificial flavors.

This was a fairly decent tea, it tastes like pistachio (lol, obviously right). It isn’t quite as creamy as I was hoping though and there isn’t that much black tea in here.
Overall, it is a decent tea.

Was happy to select a sample of this tea with my online order this week, as I love so many of DT’s dessert teas, but it wasn’t something I could see myself purchasing just to try.

Is the description of the flavours in this accurate! There’s a light nuttiness (pistachio & almond) that reminded me of Forever Nuts (also by David’s Tea) when I smelled it, but that’s very much toned down in the actual steeping of this blend. The overall flavour is smooth, soft, just a touch sweet, and very gentle. I don’t think I would place the flavour as being pistachio without knowing that’s what it’s meant to be, but the nutty flavour definitely does come through – it’s just very gentle, and perhaps the almond carries the flavour a little bit more than the pistachio does.

It is a very soft, light flavour, as I’ve made it – the sample only came with two teaspoons’ worth, and I popped those into my 45 oz teapot for…. well, I never really took it out – just eventually poured a cup after a good old wait. (Over 8 minutes, likely closer to 15.) The flavours may come through more strongly if I weren’t adding milk – but I seem to be incapable of omitting milk in my tea; it’s a texture preference.

I’m not positive if I would purchase more for my collection; I do enjoy it quite a bit, but it may be a bit TOO light for me – at least for a black tea. Maybe if I increased the concentration of tea-to-water. When I poured it, I did say to myself, “That is light for a black tea,” and so I wasn’t surprised by the very soft flavour. But it is lovely, creamy, and nutty – just not perhaps as full a flavour as I generally prefer. Nothing wrong with this blend, simply a matter of preference!

So I haven’t been on for a bit as stuff has been pretty crazy at home. My birthday was Tuesday and as a birthday gift my mother kicked me out, called the cops on my brother, and trashed my sister’s bedroom. I also had a midterm that day. So yeah, not the best week so far. Unfortunately, none of this craziness is new to my siblings and I as it has been happening for our entire lives (perks of living with someone who refuses to accept they suffer from mental health issues).

Anyways, I am staying with my sister waiting for this to blow over while my tea stash is trapped in my home with my mom. I did hit up a DAVIDs though to get a Nordic mug for brewing (the purple with the golden elephants), the ice cream cake cupcake pack, the jolly jellybean cupcake pack, and a few other samples. This is one of those samples.

It’s interesting they call this a black tea as there was maybe 6 little leaves in my filter. Predominantly this is nuts and fruit. As a consequence of that, though it does taste like pistachio, it also has an off-sweetness to it that makes it rather weird. I wish I took notes as I sort of absentmindedly sipped on this this morning while making breakfast and doing some things around the house. That plus steepster wasn’t working before which made it difficult to record my thoughts as I drank (I should have jotted down notes, Roswell Strange style lol)

Thank you, Sil. That is really appreciated! Luckily my sister has moved out so me, my brother, my sister, my future brother-in-law, and my dog are all having a slumber party lol

Sorry to hear that your birthday was less than desirable :( It’s not much solace since I’m a few provinces away, but should you ever find your way to my neck of the woods you’re always welcome here!

Thank you tea twin! As per usual, this will eventually blow over when my mom decides she is don’t fighting and my siblings and I are forced to just forgive and forget. Then I just need to survive the next semester and a half until school is done and I hopefully get a job. Once I have a stable income, I can move out on my own.

I had a real PITA week. Had to work 6 days this week and now it seems I’ve caught the cold that everyone in my family has been sick with for the past few weeks. I just have a sore throat and ear ache…so thankfully no cough or sinus aches yet. That being said, it’s been difficult in the last few days to try out the teas that I bought practically ages ago.
Growls Anyways…I actually had this tea last night, not wanting to let my sore throat/ear ache to get in the way of trying out my teas. While in someways this is not as good as Pistachio Ice Cream by Butiki…at least as much as I remember. (I still have some that I’ve been hoarding. And it’s been a long while since I’ve had any.) It still has an interesting taste…I suspect I will be ordering more.

When I heard that David’s new spring line of teas was coming out, I carved out some time last weekend to stop by. Before even walking into the store, I knew I’d be leaving with pistachio ice cream (at the very least). I’m a sucker for anything pistachio and I couldn’t not try this tea. I was instantly seduced by the scent, which reminds me of a rich, nutty, creamy cake of some kind.

I steeped 2.5 tsp according to the temp and time instructions, and I held off on adding sugar because a few of the reviews already up for this tea mentioned that it’s pretty sweet on its own. After tasting it, I agree – the tea is pretty sweet on its own. However, I still added a little bit of sugar because my sweet tooth is legendary. Now, on to the flavor: I got a strong nutty taste, but it was more of a general nutty taste than pistachio. There is definitely an underlying creaminess, and I could see this making a yummy latte. Overall, I don’t regret buying it but I probably won’t replace it when I run out. For now, this is a fun tea to have in my temporary rotation.
