From DAVIDsTEA

A little taste of paradise.

Whether you call it a prickly custard apple or a Brazilian paw paw, soursop is just about the most exotic fruit around. Creamy in texture with a bit of a sour kick, we just knew this cactus-like fruit would make a refreshing cup of tea. And we weren’t disappointed. When you blend it with coconut, sweet pineapple, green tea and chamomile flowers, it tastes just like a piña colada with a twist. Best of all, it’s perfect hot, iced or with a splash of rum. One sip and you’ll be whisked away to a sunny paradise in no time.

Ingredients:
Apples, green tea, pineapple (pineapples, sugar), coconut flakes, sweet blackberry leaves, chamomile, natural soursop, pineapple and coconut flavouring.

Contains coconut.

Dry leaf: Bright tropical notes: pineapple, soursop and coconut.

Liqueur: Dark green/yellow. Smells like coconut with tropical fruit accents.

Flavour: Balance of sweet tropical fruits and fresh coconut. The soursop taste develops into more of a pineapple flavor toward the end of the cup.

This is the best of the spring collection samples I’ve had, but, honestly, that isn’t saying much. It reminds me of Hot Tropic without the spice. The green tea base is very noticeable and not in a pleasant way. Something in the blend leans on the sour side. I’m not a huge fan of pineapple in tea when it’s the predominant flavor, so I’m not terribly disappointed that I don’t love this tea. I’m happy to have sampled it, but I won’t be stocking up. The spring collection is a miss for me. That’s probably a good thing, more money in my pocket to spend on other brands (I’m looking at you 52Teas). Here’s hoping the summer teas are up my alley.

Cold Brew Sipdown (113)!

Deja Vu? Which is weird because I’ve definitely never had this before. It tastes so incredibly familiar though, and I’m struggling to place why. I liked it though! It’s sweet and juicy with a really lovely, sweet and natural tasting pineapple flavour as well as notes of apple. This is supported by a light coconut flavour; but mostly the pineapple is the star focus here.

As tasty as this was though, it bothers me that it tastes so strikingly familiar to other DAVIDsTEA blends; I wish that as a company they’d stop rehashing their own blends and focus on creating more unique limited edition blends or just bring back past blends that are already similar to these ones, such as Tropicalia for example. This approach, in my opinion, just seems a little lazy.

I agree. Some old favorites would be nice to see again. Advertise it as a “blast from the past” or “back for a limited time” or even “blah-blah tea, re-mixed for today’s tea lover” rather than slapping a new name on the same product.

Oy, I feel like I’ve had this same tea from DAVIDs all over and over and over again. All overly sweet pineapple, all the time. It’s like dumping Grilled Pineapple into some Green Passionfruit and maybe a bit of Hot Tropic? I don’t know, but it’s basically just sugar-coated dried pineapple in liquid form. I can smell the coconut a bit but cannot taste it, unfortunately.

Funny, opened a new tab to google this tea to look at its notes again and I typed in “Fruits of Paranoia” subconsciously. Well then.

The rest is cold brewing in the fridge so we’ll see how that turns out tonight.

Ha ! Great name for a tea.

Sil

spring teas = a miss for me largely.

This tea tastes like tropicalia to me

Fjellrev

Yes, Tropicalia! I knew I was forgetting one, and Hot Tropic seemed off. Definitely Tropicalia in green tea form.

This tea reminds me of another one… Maybe Green Passionfruit? It’s not a bad thing, as that one is also delicious, but I was kind of hoping for a unique flavour profile. It’s a flavoured green, which I like, but I don’t know if I’d rush to pick up more of this one.

ugh. No one has added the new davids teas to the database…and their website doesn’t really have them either so you get what i’ve done for now haha. I picked these up yesterday as motivation to get to my step count. Sadly i pretty much drank this one without really focusing on it last night. It’s more fruit tea than green tea IMO. I quite enjoyed the pinappley, coconut, apple taste that this one had. it might actually be a decent cold brew as well, however i didn’t love it enough to think about going back to pick up more. It was refreshing and tasty but i’m good with my giant mug from last night.

Kristal

I prefer my greens fairly straight, so I’m passing on this one as well! Once my local DAVIDs gets the loose leaf available at my store, I will pick up like 10g of monk’s blend but that’s it for the spring collection for me I think.

Sil

was more fo a herbal fruit tea to me…the tea was negligible imo.

Kristal

Yeah, when there is more fruit than anything I think they should just cut out the tea and make it a herbal, especially for white teas. By even a little white tea the cost of the blend goes up a lot and you’re not even able to appreciate the delicate flavours of white tea.

*even adding a little
