Merci buchu!

Buchu has been flying under the radar for years, but we’re determined to spread the good word about this smooth-drinking herb. Traditionally used as a detox herbal ingredient in its native South Africa, it has a smooth, black currant-like taste that keeps us coming back for more. Here, we paired it with fruity goji berries – the tasty, much-loved super berry from traditional Chinese medicine. This is one detox ritual we could definitely get used to.

Ingredients:
Organic: Black currants, blackberry leaves, green rooibos, goji berries, strawberries, buchu, blueberries, acai, stevia extract. With natural acai and raspberry flavouring.

Price per 50g: $9.50

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #39 overall / Tea #6 for February
#drinkwhatyouown January slot 2/25

Tuesday 2/2 – dumped two DT sample packets in a metal steeper basket to brew hot and plain then sipped it warm on my way to work. I think I might have liked this tea if it wasn’t for that pesky stevia.

Generically fruity and good. Might be worth restocking as an herbal option at work.

I cold steeped the 2 samples I had of this – and with agave added it was pretty good. Not a tea I will buy but it was a good berry tasting tea – with something else in there I’m not sure of.

Smells like raspberry juice/candy. It’s very sweet! Could really use some tartness or done without the stevia (or both?). I have one more sample so I think this would be a good one to try cold and maybe mixed with a more tart tea.

I really love the fruitiness of this tea! It’s also a little reminiscent of gummy candy. It’s good iced, although I’m really not a fan of the added stevia.

Like the others, I’m surprised so many people dislike this tea. I quite enjoy it. It’s naturally sweet but not overpoweringly so.

I’m rather surprised with the reviews. I thought this tea wasn’t that bad actually, it reminded me of raspberry candy, which is slightly artificial but I don’t hate it. I also can’t seem to taste the ‘couch syrup’ taste others are experiencing, maybe because I steeped it for the minimum amount to dilute it a bit more.
All in all, not too bad. It’s nice if you’re someone who enjoys the taste of berries.

To each their own but I’m confused why everyone hates this tea. I quite enjoy it. Extra points for it being caffeine free!

It does have a tiny “medicine” taste to it but I mostly taste the delicious Goji and Raspberry.

I have re-steeped this tea but the flavour isn’t as strong as it was before but still worth a re-steep.

When I smelt this in the store I thought it would be fruity and light which I enjoy. After purchasing and brewing a cup I realized it had black currant and I knew I would hate it. I agree with the other reviews that it tastes like cough syrup. Definitely returning this one.
