From DAVIDsTEA

Mellow yellow

Turmeric teas have been growing in popularity for years, but we’ve found it difficult to find one we loved the taste of. This bright yellow blend of turmeric and mango is a delicious exception. So, why turmeric? This vivid spice has a variety of uses around the world – from Bengali marriage rituals to dying Hindu monks’ robes their bright yellow colour. And in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, turmeric is used to soothe upset stomachs. So go ahead, try a cup of this sunny yellow drink. You never know – spiritual and mental well-being might just be a sip away…

Sipdown! 114/365!

Bleh. This is kind of gross. Slightly sweet, not really mango-y at all, heavy on the herbaceous, “health-tea” flavours. I wouldn’t choose to drink this again. Not my thing.

THIS tea gets a 74 rating? I’m used to seeing pretty low ratings for Davidsteas so this one getting a 74 is very odd. But this is just very bitter with some odd ingredients. I guess turmeric is just bitter tasting because I’m not sure what it is. But Wiki says it’s part of the ginger family and if there is one thing I don’t like it’s ginger (after tomatoes.) None of the other ingredients here really played a part in the flavor either. Definitely no mango.

I haven’t tried this one but recalled the leaf smelling ultra bitter in this store so I already knew there was no point in trying it.

Sample from Tea in Spoon’s stash sale.

So I’m not actually certain what turmeric tastes like, but I’m liking this blend. It’s savory-sweet with a nice kick of spice from the ginger. The mango is mild, but it seems to bring the other flavors together. I’m getting an unfamiliar flavor that I’m assuming is the turmeric. I’m not sure how to describe it. It makes me think of Indian food, and looking it up on wikipedia, that is one of the places its used. This is definitely something enjoyable and different. I’ll have to try some other turmeric teas. I’ve seen a few others out there that I’ve been curious about.

Try Rishi’s Turmeric Ginger tea. I find that one to be nice. A little spicy but I like that sort of thing.

Thanks for the suggestion! How strong of a licorice flavor does that one have? I don’t really enjoy licorice root.

mtchyg

I don’t remember it being overly licorice. It is there. It is blended fairly well in that it is not an overt flavor but it is something you can tell on your throat. It is the 3rd ingredient listed but again I don’t remember it feeling overbearing. If you want to set up a swap, I can send you a sample of it just to see how you like it.

Sure, send me a message and I’ll see what I have that you might like. We’ll probably need to wait til mid-August since I’m going on vacation soon.

I love the spiciness of this tea, and find the turmeric is well balanced with the other ingredients. I am very disappointed that this is a seasonal tea, and I hope Davidstea brings it back in the future.

This sounds like an awful odd combination, but I was curious so I bought a little bit of it to try. I must say that it surprised me. I was expecting my taste buds to say “oh, gross!” but it was quite pleasant actually. I enjoyed it to the last drop but it didn’t quite make it to my permanent tea shelf. I only have limited space on it since I have so many favorites already, so I’m quite picky.

Odd, very odd this tea. I like it well enough though I highly doubt I will get it again. Why? Because this tea just tastes to odd to have very often, but I’ll try for a iced tea.

Definitely one of my “had to stock up” teas. I find that people either love it or hate it but I am a huge fan. Great spicy-sweet flavor that pairs great with a little matcha as well.

Really, really bad. I could barely take one sip. Not a fan at all. The sweet and savory just didn’t blend together well. Smelled horrible as well.

I think I like tumeric teas! This is the second one I have tried and I like them both! This one is bright, has a citrusy edge and a slight sweetness. I didn’t think I’d like the pineapple based on other pineapple teas I have had, but it seems to work well here. On the sip the fruit comes off as tropical, but in the aftertaste the distinction of mango comes out. It is great without anything added. I have the rest of the sample cold steeping in the fridge and am anxious to try it that way!

Definitely a unique flavor. The turmeric really comes through, and combines with the mango to make a lightly spicy tea. I don’t know that this is something I’d want to drink all the time, but it makes for an interesting change.
