Snow Day

I got this as a free sample with an order. To me the flavor is way too harsh, and all I taste is peppermint. I definitely wouldn’t buy this on its own.

The dry leaf aroma is strong, yummy peppermint with noticeable cocoa. Mmm! I’m excited to try this one! When I took the brew basket out of the cup four minutes later, my husband took in a deep breath and said, “Something smells good!” Haha, well it’s all mine! :P

It certainly is a fragrant tea. It’s filled the whole room with a lovely peppermint aroma. Wow, this is super strong! It’s mostly mint with chocolate lingering in the background and especially in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is cooling minty refreshment.

As it cools, there’s something rather bitter that makes its appearance. And the aftertaste is fairly artificial tasting now too. Sadly, I’ve found that many of DAVIDsTEA blends can taste artificial. It’s their fault for not using natural flavors. So I can’t say this tea is a complete winner. But it was a fun sample to try, if for nothing other than the peppermint patty potential and those sweet snowflake sprinkles! Yeah, alliteration!

there’s a weird second taste with this one. I get the minty chocolate peppermint but then there’s also this sort of chemical, sort of like fruity taste to it that i dislike. It has inspired me to maybe add some cacao the next time i make peppermint patty though, just for funsies :)

This tastes horrible. I feel like I’m drinking chemicals. How could something that sounds so delicious taste so awful? How can you go wrong when combining peppermint and chocolate?! Is it the sprinkles that taste like melted garbage? I love the minty coolness, but it’s just too disgusting otherwise. Is there anyone out there who loves this tea and wants a nearly full 2oz bag of this?

I’m not a fan of mint and chocolate whatsoever, so trying this tea, I was a bit wary. However, upon taking my first sip, I found it quite enjoyable. This is probably because the mint overpowers the chocolate, as others have mentioned. There’s definitely a hint of it there, but it’s not as prominent as the peppermint (which makes no sense because of all the cocoa that’s in this tea). It’s got a smooth feel that’s nice and creamy. Right now, I’d recommend it but I’ve only had one cup. I’ll get back to you with an updated review.

The sound of a white chocolate and mint herbal tea sound very interesting. I already love Read My Lips, which is a chocolate and mint black tea so I thought Snow day would be its caffeine-free version. First, the smell is awfully repelling, it’s like a very strong mint, the kind you would find in a cleaning product. The tea itself is not so bad: the mint is not as strong and we can taste more the chocolate. It’s nowhere as good as Read My Lips but it’s worth trying.

Too strong, the mint is overpowering and the chocolate is underpowering…one good thing is that you can steep it multiple times and it gets better…by the third steep I mixed it with a black tea and it was yummy.

Not sure if I’m ready for winter yet if I’m honest. I am quite excited for the limited edition and festive holiday teas, though! This one caught my eye because of its herbal base and combination of chocolate and peppermint. I also think the snowflake sprinkles make a cute addition to the blend.

The scent of this tea isn’t that different from other peppermint and chocolate blends I’ve had in the past. It’s a very earthy, minty and sweet scent.. I’m already expecting those familiar flavors to come rushing back. Sipping… wow! I didn’t think that the peppermint would be nearly that strong. It’s certainly got that sinus-clearing strength. The peppermint slides quickly into a sweetness that reminds me of licorice or perhaps stevia without a funny aftertaste. The end of the sip is where the chocolate comes out.. I do detect just a wisp of white chocolate with a thin mouthfeel.

While I do think that this blend is a great addition to a winter collection, the peppermint is too strong for me.. and the sweetness from the peppermint takes over the cup. I would have liked the chocolate to be a bit stronger and creamier as well. If you enjoy peppermint, this is definitely a blend to try this winter.

My first sip was like WTF? I found the taste odd. I was at work with it in my thermos. I kept sipping through my shift and it grew on me. I got to the bottom and was kind of like damn, I’m out of tea.

It’s very minty, with a smoothness creamy-ness and I get a hint of chocolate.

It’s not going to be for everyone, but I’ll scoop more up after Christmas when it is bound to go on sale.

I was really surprised that I liked this tea. Chocolate teas usually leave me disappointed, as if they are poor stand-ins for hot chocolate. However, this tea worked for me, peppermint with an overtone of chocolate—perfect for dessert.
