I recieved a free sample pouch of this tea in store when I made a purchase the other day!

This tea 100% smells like a peanut butter cup! That was pretty exciting when I opened it! After making it, I could still smell the peanut butter cup. This was nice because sometimes the smell of tea changes quite a bit when it is in liquid form! The only problem with all of this is that I’m not a HUGE fan of peanut butter. I enjoy them once in a while, but I have to be in the mood for it.

After drinking this, I decided that it does taste very much like a peanut butter cup. They really hit the nail on the head with the flavouring! My only problem with this is that I kind of have to be in a peanut butter cup mood – I very rarely eat them. It’s not that I don’t like them, they just aren’t a staple for me. While I found this tea to be true to its name, I don’t think I like it enough to purchase it.

If you love peanut butter cups, I would definitely recommend it, however if you are kind of neutral towards them, this may not be the tea for you.

Fall Collection 2015 Taste Test #2

This was another one I wasn’t sure on when I first heard about it.
The smell of it was really good when I opened the bag and was surprised when I read ‘Apple’ as the first ingredient on the bag….really.

I tried this on its own, but wasn’t sure on the taste. It wasn’t all that strong, like the Cranberry Orange Muffin. Maybe cause I was sick with cramps or something, but didn’t notice much on the flavor.

I read on the Facebook ‘DavidsTea Fans’ group that people had tried steeping this tea in milk, so I decided to give it a try. The flavor really bursts in the milk, it’s really good in milk.

Not sure if I’m gonna get anymore, but I will definatley finish off the bag in the collection.

Peanut butter cup? Hm, I dunno about that. Maybe my sample packet had too much apple and not enough of everything else. This tastes like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to me. I don’t get much chocolate flavor at all, so that’s disappointing. I’m not a huge fan of peanut butter, but there’s potential for this tea as the liquid base of a smoothie. I don’t know that it’s something I’d drink on its own again. If the chocolate flavor was more present I’d probably be more inclined to stock up on this tea. But the apples, as the primary ingredient, really take over, imparting not just their sweetness but their flavor as well.

Peanut butter cup, not so much.

Peanut butter and (apple) jelly sandwich, definitely.

Oh I might like this then. I love the idea of a PB&J tea!

It might be worth a try, especially if you’re close to a store and can just get a small amount (or get them to make it to-go?).

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Unfortunately I’m not, but I’ll keep my eye out for it on the Stash thread or on their site.

I was so excited when they first announced this as a new tea. I know many people felt peanut butter would not make a good tea flavour, but I was totally sold right away. I only worried that it would not translate well into a tea. But there was nothing to worry about! This is an awesome tea. One of my new favourites, in the top 10. An excellent dessert tea prepared as a latte. For me, the peanut butter flavour comes through prominently, so I am kind of surprised to read that others do not feel the same. I will definitely be stocking up heavily on this one. Another great tea from David’s Tea.

And for people who feel the tea does not have enough chocolate in it, you could always try adding a bit of the Dark Chocolate Delight to the mix. That should kick the chocolate up a notch.

Apple. Apple, apple, apple. And poor peanut butter, flailing around desperately behind the apple, just enough to be noticed. Maybe my pouch had weird proportions, maybe my tastebuds are broken, I don’t know, but this just is waaay too tart to be a peanut butter cup. It doesn’t taste bad, it just doesn’t taste like a peanut butter cup to me, and isn’t something I’d get more of.

Cold steeping some overnight, maybe that’ll do it justice.

EDIT: Cold steeping did nothing! Tasted the same, too tart, not particularly nutty. So sad, I was really looking forward to this one.

L O V I N G it! I am a huge peanut butter fan. If I could just eat Reese peanut butter cups for the rest of my life and not become a huge greasy lazy slug then I would. So imagine my excitement when I heard about this one.

I jumped on the promo where I would get a sample ahead of the release by placing an order online. My order came on Monday and it was SO worth it!

I wouldn’t put this quite in the league of a Reese peanut butter cup. It makes me think more of a peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips.

Anyway, I practically ran to the mall yesterday to buy 100g of this. The $5 off coupon I got in my e-mail was certainly nice ;)

Seriously, if you love this blend, try mixing it 1:1 with Chocolate Macaroon by DavidsTea.

Evol Ving Ness

Making a note of it. Thanks. I just happen to have both on hand.

Spencer

I would steep for the full seven minutes, too, in order to get the best peanut butter flavor possible.

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you. I am going to try this later in the day.

Spencer

You may also want to try 2:1 Peanut Butter Cup-to-Chocolate Macaroon. I initially tried this, before trying 1:1, and the peanut butter was not actually that much more stronger, as I had hoped it would be.

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you, Spencer. I came home too late to drink caffeinated tea, but I have parked these two side by side so that I won’t forget when the right moment presents itself.

Spencer

I know this problem all too well.

Evol Ving Ness

Seriously, this blend is something I’d like to drink at home, not out of a travel mug.

Spencer

Right! Well…Saturday morning is right around the corner, and hopefully you do not have to work on Saturdays! I know what I will be drinking, tomorrow morning…

Evol Ving Ness

Yes! I tried it and liked it very much. I detected stronger vanilla notes and the slightest bit of jamminess. Good combination. Thank you for the suggestion.

Was talking about this earlier today with a tea friend and they thought it sounded weird and wanted someone to try it first. OK I’ll volunteer….
Dry it smell just like a peanut butter cup, steeped it smells really yummy – chocolate and peanut butter.
Hmmmmm a little strange, this seems more like chocolate, peanut, and caramel. Hot turtles chocolates more than peanut butter cup. Its lacking the creamy peanut buttery thing, this is just peanut. I’m also struggling with the fact that it’s a tisane, for my tastes this needs a dark base – black, pu’erh, something – to add some depth. It feels thin on the tongue and that’s translating to watery for me.
I’m surprised that I don’t hate it. Its a decent dessert tea, but I think it could be better and doesn’t live up to it’s name.

Being from Ohio and someone who makes tea… I’ve been told so many times to make a Buckeye blend.
Peanut butter and tea just sounds like a terrible idea. How much of the apple pieces do you end up tasting in this versus the chocolate and peanut butter?

Dexter

It doesn’t taste like peanut butter, not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Peanut butter tea seemed like an odd idea to me too. I didn’t taste the apple at all but it’s the first ingredient….? This us chocolate first then roasted peanut then caramel. At least that’s my impression. Good luck with your Buckeye blend.

Only had this one as a sample in store, but I feel like I really need to try some more of it before I can truly make a good review. It’s good, but.. strange? We’ll see how I feel the second time :)

Dry leaf: True to a peanut butter cup candy bar.

Liqueur: Bright yellow color. Smells like a mix of candied peanut and creamy chocolate
