Strange VariaTEA TTB #20

I wouldn’t mind using this blend as potpourri, because it smells amazing! Unfortunately, the flavor didn’t live up to the aroma for me personally. WAY too much hibiscus, and I also found the mix of hibiscus and mint a bit odd.

Sipdown – I finished this off a couple of nights ago but apparently didn’t write a note. I never did find a temperature or steep time that made this blend particularly enjoyable for me. It’s just sort of all-around tart, sort of generically red berry and hibiscus tart with not much sweetness, while also having a thin mouthfeel. So it feels unbalanced and not super intriguing. Unfortunately not a fan. It’s drinkable, but not much more than that.

This is super floral, but I don’t taste the lavender, even when I add extra. The cold resteep was too sour for my preferences. Sometimes I find this tea to be okay and sometimes too savory and sour. I find that a shorter steep tones down the negative flavors a bit, though it’s still not great. My recent sixth and seventh attempts were actually okay, just lightly fruity and floral. I guess it depends on the proportion of ingredients you get in each cup.

One of my relatives got this one recently as part of a herbal tea sampler. She asked me to make her a cup of it and I ended up making one for myself as well because it smelled so good. We both really enjoyed this one! It’s a lovely combination of lavender and fruit. The hibiscus is quite subtle which is nice. I’d love to order more of this one to have on hand since it’s so relaxing. I think this is one of DT’s older herbal blends if I remember right. It doesn’t have sugar or stevia in it either. It’s sweet enough on it’s own without anything needing to be added to it.

Fourth hospital tea, and a good choice to have brought. Caffeine-free and calming. It did well in the thermos, and the resteep was even better. I do find the tea to be a touch too strong on the first infusion, sometimes.

Wholeheartedly approve of your hospital selection.

Hastily selected, but I thought it wasn’t too bad!

Backlog from November 7th:

A generous gift from amandastory516! My husband loves herbal teas but I usually only drink them when I’m sick or as a caffeine-free option at night before bed. Amanda sent some amazing teas though and several, including this one, I wanted to try immediately.

This reminds me very much of DAVIDsTEA’s Magic Dragon but with a whisper of mint. Mint teas are generally not a favorite (aside from a few peppermint blends) but this was a gentle note that I really enjoyed. There was a fruitiness that I couldn’t places, but after looking at the ingredients I think it may have been the apple. This was a very relaxing tea right before bed and one I think I’ll plan to purchase in the future for nights like this.

I loved the smell, color and the general flavors that are in this tea, but I found there to be a little too much lavender in it for my liking. I happily finished my cup, and it was a very calming zen type feeling tea. I just wished I had a little less of the lavender and more of the other flavors like mint and blueberries.

Maybe if I am having a little spa day or I am in need of some relaxing self reflection time, I could see myself enjoying another cup.

This tea truly is a cup of serenity. Its one that I love to sip on at the end of the day, to relax. It’s peace of mind in a cup.
Fruity with just a hint of spearmint. The lavender kind of gets lost in this one. Great hot or cold. Definitely a feel good tea.

This tea reminds me of Sleepytime in the box. Might drink it every once in a while, but not my favorite. I am thinking it’s the spearmint and lavender that don’t appeal to me. I tasted more hibiscus as it cooled but always with the aftertaste of spearmint.

I found this one to be quite refreshing. I’m tasting the hint of spearmint and a nice fruity flavor, mostly and apple or strawberry flavor. I love having this one before bed, always helps put me to sleep.
