Sipdown (119)!

Spent most of today doing nothing; I’m essentially not sick anymore though! Basically, I’ve got a bit of the snuffles (stuffy nose) and everything on my right side is a little sore/tense (must have slept on it funny) but otherwise I’m good! Though admittedly I did feel like total POOP this morning. But that eventually went away! Hoo-rah!

I had a really weird dream last night too; it was super, super intense. I was “stab you in the back 23 times” mad at someone because, get this, they had the gall to steal my VCR player! What? I don’t even own a VCR player, and if I did I’m sure I wouldn’t be that passionate about it?

I finished this one off, uh, two days ago? On the day I posted my last review for it actually; I meant to post ’em both on the same night but I fell asleep. Whoops. Made it in a timolino though; which means this sipdown is also marking my only time trying it “normally”. That is to say, without being infused into chocolate or made into tea soda, in this particular case.

I don’t know; something about this one straight was kind of uninteresting. Like, it tasted good but so, so much more bland/boring than as tea soda, which was really, really good. Definitely a very lime focused tea; with some subtle creaminess, a little rind flavour, maybe some other citrus notes too like lemon or perhaps a less sweet pineapple flavour? Definitely more lemon though. And, I still think there’s something very faintly floral/rosey about this one though I seem to be the only personal to have called that out. I mean, there is marigold in it – but it’s definitely more of a rose flavour to me.

Anyone know how long these blends are sticking around for? This is probably the only newer one I’m actually considering picking up more of! For this being the worst time I had it, it wasn’t bad – just less interesting. I actually very, very much want to do this cold brewed since I never got to, and I’d love to have it again as a tea soda now that I’m at home and don’t have to share it with my family…

Bumping up my rating a touch. Only because of how fondly I’m remembering that tea soda though; my current rating of 74 is probably an appropriate reflection of how this hot brew tasted.

I have actually owned a VCR player, in fact, probably still do (I’m sure it’s in a box somewhere). Now I feel old. ;)

I had one growing up; but it didn’t travel with me to Saskatoon when I moved :P

Kittenna

Need to go get all these. Worried they will disappear before I do! :(

Also, I had a messed up dream last night too, and I read about at least 5 other people on Facebook who also did. Was it a full moon or something?? (My dream involved getting engaged and breaking it off for some reason. I don’t remember the details but I was very upset.)

Did you do your tea soda with a syrup? I need to try that. I might try that now (it’s like… 2 tbsp tea in 1/4 cup water? And then how much sugar?)

Roswell Strange

I usually do about 5 tsp. of sugar :)

OMGsrsly

Awesome. Now to choose a tea. :D

Herbals work well, or anything really fruity. Though I’ve done some more dessert-y ones and they’ve turned out great too.

Finally got around to trying this last night. It was eminently . . . okay. It was a limey citrusy green tea, nothing really dramatic about it. All around I found that there wasn’t much flavour to it – either of the lime or the green – but the scent was deliciously mojito-y. All in all, I’m not regretting drinking it but I don’t really feel the need to have it again.

My 6 year old had it iced the other day from the store. He really loved it. I tried to hot sample they had and it was ok. I guess I feel better about him drinking an ok tea than any other crap he could have.

Another from last night and one i MIGHT consider picking up a bit more of. I find that i have enjoyed drinking this, and even when it’s cooled i still like finishing off the cup. The lime is tasty and i think it might be interesting with a little sweetner as well.

This is surprisingly nice! I’m not a huge lime fan, but this is mild enough that I’m really enjoying my cup. It’s a sweet lime, not a tart lime. I doubt I’ll pick up more, but I’m looking forward to trying it cold.

Kittenna

Not overly hibiscussy?

Daddyselephant

Not that I found!

It’s lovely. Not as tart as I’d like but very, very enjoyable all the same. The hibiscus compliments the lime really well for an all-round fresh and fruity flavour. Plus, I’m a sucker for elderberry and it works really well in this tea. I’ve only had it hot so far but I imagine it’d be lovely iced. Use an EXTREMELY fine mesh infuser; this one’s insanely bitty.

This is an extremely enjoyable tea that hits all the pleasurable notes of lime. Its not overly tart, yet the flavor is strong and distinctive. Its tangy, and balanced with sweetness, which I’m guessing is rooted mainly in the hibiscus. I’ve come to really love hibiscus lately! I imagine this is also going to be stellar cold!

This one smells absolutely amazing, which was what motivated me to try this one first from the new collection. It doesn’t taste as good as it smells, which is a shame, but I still liked it – I am a sucker for anything lime-flavoured. This one tasted different enough from anything I’ve had by DT so I will definitely be getting some more of this eventually.

Dry Leaf Nose: A sweet lime aroma with a slight hint of apple

Liquor: Golden and pink with a sweet lime aroma

Flavour Notes: Simple and sweet lime is the primary flavour of this fruity blend. The flavour reminds us of lime-based soda, the perfect balance between sweet and tart.
