From DAVIDsTEA

At the first sign of a cold, there’s only one thing to do. Reach for the most soothing tea in your cupboard and sip it till you feel human again. And this super-comforting blend is packed with so many traditional remedies, it might just do the trick. It’s got tangy citrus and lemongrass, calming peppermint and a powerful blast of echinacea and eleuthero root –ginseng’s distant cousin. Most importantly, there’s a much-needed caffeine kick from a healthy dose of green tea. Zing for joy! That cold doesn’t stand a chance

Wow. I haven’t been on steepster in like 6 months. It’s good to be back! I have lots of teas to review and lots to update…

Lately I’ve been drinking tons of tea since the weather is getting colder. Usually my daily tea intake consists of a little matcha in my morning smoothie, 1-2 cups of green tea between the morning and 2pm, then herbal teas for the rest of the day. When it comes to green tea, I normally just like staight green tea; no fruit, nuts or spices. However, this tea has become one of my favourites despite the fact it has other ingredients! I think this is due to the fact that the other indgredients are “earthy/grassy” just like green tea is. Either way it works really well together and tastes excellent.

I only drink this tea when I have a cold, or feel one coming on. It soothes the throat and just feels good going down.

I am not sick. I feel like that should be a disclaimer on all reviews of this – are you, or are you not currently ill. Because this is definitely one of those teas that will be ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER when I have the sniffles. It’s like the Cold 911 (which is also THE BEST THING EVER when I have the sniffles) but less medicinal and more sweet. But since I’m not sick at the moment, I couldn’t fully appreciate its soothing and cold-busting properties. Even though, I enjoyed this cuppa. It was lime-y and sweet and soothing and almost put me to sleep. Which was unhelpful before dinner, but would be great in about an hour or so.

So I’ve been hearing some wheezing when I breathe and shockingly after a day traipsing around the Toronto Zoo in the drizzly rain, I feel a lot worse. My throat feels sore and swollen, my chest aching. Ugh. Luckily, the wifey picked up a sample of this last night.

It’s nice! Very tasty and wonderfully soothing. It reminds me of Cold 911 but without the punch in the face of the menthol. Which, don’t get me wrong, the menthol is a life saver, but sometimes it’s not the most helpful thing ever. So this will be a nice alternative to keep on hand for when I’m sick.

mmm this is an interesting one. Nothing i need to restoack (Sorry David’s) but it will be fine to drink until i’m done my little sample. The mint in this one is refreshing, and the citrusy notes that go along with it are quite nice. A little honey added to this really brought the flavours together a little better. Nice for a cooler afternoon.

Having had a touch of congestion and sore throat last week (you have to love that rapid hot/cold temperature change going on) I decided to purchase a small amount of this tea and sample it today.

I can definitely pick out the lemongrass and minty flavours and it’s pleasant whether you drink it hot or cold. It’s a nice clean tea without any nasty lingering aftertaste.

If anyone is drinking this while battling a cold, I would love to hear from you. At this point I’m not sure if this is something I would buy in a large quantity (I would have some on hand just in case, though). If it does work, definitely I will. I prefer to deal with ailments more naturally wherever possible.

…besides, since taking away PPA from cold medicines I find NOTHING works with congestion and stuffiness.

crisp, refreshing flavour! more peppermint and echinacea when hot, with the citrus notes taking a back seat, but as an iced tea this blend really shines. definitely more zesty and bright from the lime and lemongrass. very refreshing! and a nice bonus, as i don’t always want a HOT tea when i’m getting sick. would definitely drink this as an iced tea year round!

Can’t smell very well, but in store the lime/citrus really shone through, while drinking there is a stronger mint presence. Overall a nice relaxing tea. I love that it has echinacea for when I feel a cold coming on.

Yay 1st review! I got this one as a sample when I visited today and really liked it. With flu-season rapidly approaching, I think this is one to have on hand. This tea, even warm, was very refreshing and hydrating. It had a slight spice but also a few citrusy notes. I would compare it to Gail’s Organic Cold Remedy and Cold 911 but will say that it is lighter than both of those due to the citrusy notes.
