From DAVIDsTEA

It’s sweet. It’s salty. And it’s totally addictive. It’s no surprise that caramel corn is such a popular fairground treat. And we just can’t get enough of it. So of course we had to make it into a tea. With real popped corn, caramel pieces plus fresh hints of apple, pineapple, almonds and coconut, it’s rich, buttery and beyond satisfying. And thanks to a touch of beetroot, it brews a fun bright pink colour. Now you can experience that fairground treat anytime, anywhere.

Price: $7.98 per 50g

Finally breaking into my Black Friday purchases (or at least the ones that contain coconut!). This is definitely the best caramel corn tea I’ve tried so far. It tastes pretty accurate, and the flavor lingers in my mouth for a long time after sipping. The salty, buttery popcorn is the most prominent flavor with the sweet caramel coming next. I had to add a fair amount of sugar to make it sweet enough for my tastes since I don’t love savory teas. Anyway, I’m not even finished with my first giant mug of this, and I already can’t wait to drink more!

Kawaii433

That sounds good. I love caramel corn. <3

AJRimmer

Me too! The thing that bums me out is that the ingredients are so heavy that my 2 oz will only make a few cups of tea D: I need more!

Kawaii433

hehe I put it on my wishlist!

I am not a huge fan of popcorn, I like caramel corn even less, so no surprise this isn’t my favorite. I was surprised, however, that I liked it as much as I do. It does taste like caramel corn, including the butter. Not bad considering all the flavors are not favorites.

Continuing the trend of dessert teas, we now have Caramel Corn! Which, realistically, tastes and looks an awful lot like Forever Nuts, plus some popcorn. Maybe a little more caramel, a little less nut? Variations on a tasty theme, though this particular baggie is getting a little stale.

Also, I have spent this entire evening doing not much of anything, aside from drinking tea, reading old tasting notes and getting some diaper laundry done. I really have no excuse to be feeling so in need of relaxation time (it’s only Monday! And I got an hour or so nap this morning while baby slept) but, oh well. The counter is full of dishes, the living room is full of unfolded laundry, my to do list is as long as ever (ok, I crossed one thing off, which was an achievement, but it was really quite small). It feels impossible to ever catch up! Blah. So tonight’s lack of progress will be quite helpful…

Sil

I’m so excited to be able to do laundry whenever at th new place. Had to go 5 days in disposables because the laundry room was having issues, worst 5 days ever. I seriously can’t stand disposables. Conversely my other friend is having so many issues with leaks with her cloth and is ready to just give up :(

gmathis

It’s been years ago, but we truly wanted cloth diapers to work, and they just didn’t. The diapers would just fall to shreds when we pre-soaked. No doubt cloth diaper technology has improved in 26 years…I’d like a grandbaby to test it out on, but that is looking pretty unlikely!

Kittenna

@Sil – Bleh, disposables. We haven’t used once since 2 months, probably (I think we switched around 1 month, but still used them on occasion for a bit). We had (and still have) leaks with cloth, but I’m over it. We had them with disposables too. This guy is just a heavy wetter, so he gets extra clothing changes when needed. We also have a handful of sketchy diapers that probably have issues, but I never pay enough attention to note them down.

@gmathis – Things have definitely changed between then and now! My mom was interested to see the diapering stuff we use, which is quite a bit different than what she used on my sister and I!

Sil

@kitenna – we haven’t made the switch overnight…though honestly i don’t know why since she doesn’t pee overnight and holds it all until she wakes up lol Hoping once we’re in the house i can get settled and get rid of them for good. that being said at least a box of disposables lasts us like 2 months or more lol

Kittenna

He soaks diapers at night – it’s almost comical how padded his butt has to be to try and prevent it! We use fitteds + 3 natural fibre boosters and a cover. I actually really like fitteds + covers and would use them during the day too (sans boosters), but every diaper/clothing change is currently a wrestling match, so it’s just too much effort!

Surprisingly good! Not too sweet, and just a weeee bit salty, like caramel corn. Nom!

Really does taste strongly of caramel, vanilla and popcorn. Fun, sweet, and unusual. Makes a great latte too. The only thing I make sure to do with this is pick out the big chunks of cinnamon and throw them out, but that’s personal preference. I find that the cinnamon overpowers the other flavors if I leave it in.

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challengeTuesday, January 19th: National Popcorn Day Tea #3

Additional notes:  and the third for popcorn day!  My nighttime choice.  Not much to add though, just wanted to note that there was a third popcorn tea!

Mastress Alita

Wow, three popcorn teas! I’ve always wanted to try this one, hope DT brings it back someday.

tea-sipper

haha, yeah! Hopefully I can find three for each theme day. I hope they bring this tea back too.

Got a bunch of that stuff for free as promotion. Didn’t want it to go to waste so I drank it, but at the same time couldn’t wait for it to be all gone. Way too sweet.

This tea reminds me of a cross between movie night, sleigh ride (without the tart hibiscus), and forever nuts! It basically takes all the good qualities of each and bundles it all up with a buttery caramel corn taste. It is my absolute favorite, along with Honey Lullaby, at David’s this season! I got 2oz yesterday but am already going to stock up on more tomorrow. I really should just buy stock in DAVIDsTEA I spend so much money there its almost sad lol.

This tea was true to its name. I definitely could taste caramel, buttery notes. However, it was a little too artificial tasting for me, but my best friend loved it!

My first ever sipdown and first ever review on Steepster! I got this tea at the end of summer 2014 when David’s put their leftover packs from the boardwalk collection on sale, so unfortunately I think the tea lost a bit of its strength over those 2 years.

The dry leaf smells amazing, just like the treat its designed after. I had this iced and I found it pretty true to the dessert as well. It’s got a very sweet vanilla taste to it, with the popcorn notes and a bit of fruitiness. Sadly my steep was rather weak due to the age of the leaves (everything but leaves?), so it’s a bit hard to tell the finer details.

Overall, I think that this tea is great to have iced in the summer and if David’s brings it back like they have in the past, I’ll be eager to try it hot for a change.
