From DAVIDsTEA

We’re always on the lookout for cool new ingredients from around the world. And in this seriously exotic blend, we’ve included two tasty fruits we’ve never featured before. First up is the star fruit, a pretty yellow treat in the shape of a star – with a delicate, refreshing taste like a pear or apple. Then there’s the mighty jackfruit, a Thai and Vietnamese delicacy with a distinctively sweet smell and a taste somewhere between a mango and a banana. Our only question is…why did it take us so long?

Prepared this as a cold brew last night and decided to pack it up with me for class!
DUDE IT WAS FREAKIN 106 DEGREES WHEN I LEFT FOR CLASS. I AM NOT PREPARED FOR SUMMER OKAY. For you Canadians and others on Celcius, that’s 41degrees. Like no, I am not okay with this.

But this tea is wonderful cold. Seriously. I’ve already picked out a ton of my fruity teas and those are on cold brew duty from now until the end of summer. I can’t deal with this weather!

But onto the tea: It’s great. Really good! Nice and tart and fruity, and a tough of honey does round it out a bit more. Definitely taste the mango and the jackfruit! I just love the tropical ingredients used in this tea and the sweetness of it is perfect :)
It did have a weird.. starchy texture though? I think that might’ve been because I didn’t really mix my honey into it that well, but yeah, that was the only weird bit.

41°C is not ok.

It snowed here last night – I’d take 41 anytime…..

I love love love the snow and rain and cold weather! But I’ve chosen a university that gets crazy hot for long periods of time so I’m kinda stuck :/
Dexter, I’d trade places with you if I could!

Dexter

LOL I’d trade too. We all want what we can’t have and the grass is greener and all that. Really I’m just sick of winter….

Rosehips

It was 96 here! I’m with you, Jump, I am not ready for summer.

Decided to buy this one and i’m very glad I did. Smells heavenly and tastes great. Had it hot today, and looking forward to having it iced. The brew had a lot of fruit and I didn’t see much white tea leaves, but I can taste them.

This is the summer blend I was most excited about: it just seemed so fun and different compared to not only the other summer offerings but all the white teas DT stocks in general.

I actually got a chance to taste it in store today, as well as smell it. The smell really intrigued me and came off as very “tropical” but in a more mellow way: not over the top citrus tropical. Taste wise, I thought the in store sample was rather weak but promising, and because I suspect they underleafed (and they also had icecubes in the pitchers, contributing to things being watered down) I felt daring enough to buy some to experiment with on my own here at home.

So I’m going to hold off rating this until I’ve brewed it up my way first: but I think it has promise and I’m still very excited by it!

I just made some iced and probably overleafed just in case, but it is pretty goof, and I even have it unsweeted. Stop the presses! :P

Tried this as a hot sample today…. I do love my fruity teas and mmmm this one was delicious! It’s been a while since I’ve had white tea and I was happy that one tasted as yummy as it did. I can’t wait to try this one iced!

I read this somewhere, I believe the DAVIDs website, that this is a tropical tea and that is an incredibly apt description. Cold brewed for 8 hours, the result is a sweet and refreshing drink. It tastes more like fruit juice than flavored water as the base, which is present but not overwhelming, provides a fullness that really rounds out the fruity flavors. Another success from DAVIDs Summer Collection – and to think none of the teas excited me at all.

I think I’m gonna pick some of this up tomorrow…

I liked it. but I def want to cold brew some. We’ve got a warm weekend and week coming up, I think….so great opportunities soon.

I look forward to seeing what you guys think :)

I just made some iced, so we’ll see how that goes, but I hope to cold brew some too.

Trying this one iced today, and still out of sugar so it is unsweetened, and it is still pretty good. I still maintain that a small amount of sugar would make it pop some. But I’m good with this so far. Actually, there is something in it that kind of reminds me of Swampwater…

So, I couldn’t help myself, and totally planned an outing to DavidsTea at lunch today to check out the summer collection. I actually tried looking it up online this morning (at 5am…yes, I eat breakfast then), but it wasn’t on until like 6am, when I was on public transit going into work. Ha! I’m such a stalker!

My coworker gladly accompanied me and we oohed and ahhed at the new teaware and smelled the new teas and also the tea of the month, which smells awesome! I picked up an ounce of the latter, some teabags for work, and I got a cup of this tea iced to go. Oh, and I’m a frequent steeper now! Woo!

I wasn’t sure about this tea at first. The leaf is really like 98% fruit pieces. To tell you the truth, I’m not even sure I saw white tea leaves in there, unless they were the little flakes stuck to the fruit. I really like tropical flavors so I decided to try it iced with a touch of agave. It actually really grew on me as I sipped it. I’m pretty sure I tasted the star fruit, and some other fruit. It was crisp and refreshing. If you enjoy iced tea, I’d recommend this one. For me, I kinda have a lot of tea I need to ice already, so I’m going to hold off on getting some for now.

Dry Leaf Nose: Apple with jackfruit notes (the jack fruit has a delightful dark and tarry-nutty note, very intriguing).

Liquor: Golden yellow clear liquor with the intriguing aromas of jackfruit and starfruit.

Flavour: Intriguing and deliciously sweet liquor with a sweet starfruit character made much more interesting by the backdrop of exotic jackfruit notes. The liquor is satisfying and complex.
