Cuckoo for coconut

We are big fans of coconuts around here – they might just be the coolest food on the planet. For one thing, they’ve been around since prehistoric times, making them one of the oldest plants you can find. Plus they have so many amazing applications, it’s no wonder people in Malaysia call the coconut palm “The Tree of a Thousand Uses.” But as far as we’re concerned, the number one reason to love them is this delicious coconut and oolong blend. Creamy, rich, sweet and fresh, it’s satisfying, comforting and completely addictive. Take it from us: you’ll go nuts for it.

I have to admit, I am just not a fan of this one. I love coconut, but this is not the coconut I love. Possibly it is the lemongrass kicking around, because I will admit that is not my favourite flavour in a lot of teas. Also, I can`t really see lemongrass and coconut blending together all that well. Whatever the issue is, it is not a huge deal because this one belongs to the boy and he loves it, so all’s well that end’s well I guess. For me, it is too muddled in terms of flavour, and I am already so crazy about Coconut Grove that I am not looking to sell myself on another coconut tea that I did not already love.

Well, I had to run out and buy this tea after seeing the email from David’s Tea announcing this tea was in for April. What can I say that’s different than all the great reviews here? It’s a coconutty buttery oolong delight. The oolong base is not the best oolong I’ve have but it’s still a good one. Not picking up the lemongrass but it’s in there somewhere.

A good tea but somewhat confusing to the taste buds. Not really sure why they are confused but but it’s just because I’ve never had coconut in an oolong before. It’s different but I like it. Does anyone else sense chocolate? That is the main after taste I am picking up right now.

Coconut oolong and coconut grove are nearly identical! And sadly, as with all teas I like, both are discontinued!

Both are seriously delicious.

Coconut oolong starts of with a strong taste of toasted coconut, it tastes wonderfully like some sort of coconut cereal. It’s rich and satisfying.
The oolong is pretty much hidden in the first steep… it’s all coconut.
However, and the reason I like coconut oolong slightly more than coconut grove, the oolong re-steeps beautifully.
Each further steep shows off more of the softly sweet, beautiful oolong, and the coconut gently fades to just a gentle note.
Grove is similar, but the white tea loses impact more quickly, and is not as strongly flavored.

I really would recommend this tea to anyone who really like toasted coconut, and oolong. Yum!

I was really sad when this tea did not return in this years spring collection because it was my favorite! But then shortly after, it shows up as tea of the month, which is even better!

This year however, they added lemongrass to it. I liked it the way it was in the first place, but with the lemongrass added, it’s not all that different. So as I mentioned in my previous review, this tea has a lovely coconut flavor that is strong and prominent. Then it is soothed by the lovely, smooth oolong leaves, and the balance of the two flavors is perfect.

The only thing is that the oolong leaves are extremely fragile and if you steep t too long or if the water is too hot, it becomes very astringent and unpleasurable.

If you like coconut, this tea is for you. If you like oolongs, this tea’s second steep is for you. As an oolong, it’s second steep is always the best, and this tea is no different. I like DT’s Coconut Oolong so much, I’ve been known to steep the same tea up to 4 times!

My favourite way to make Coconut Oolong is sweetened with Canadian Maple syrup while steeping, use sweetened vanilla almond milk, and top with whipped cream! Makes a magnificent after dinner dessert, or an afternoon treat.

Just went out and bought most of the teas from the Spring collection today. I tried this one first and when I steeped it up, I took literally one sip and I knew right away it was great! I don’t know what it is but I really enjoy oolongs and adding coconut to it is just combining two totally delicious factors. It is light, quite creamy, and not too sweet (and not bitter either!). It is very delicious and the coconut is very nicely present. If you like coconut and oolong I don’t see why you won’t love this. Give it a try :)

Wow! What a strong coconut flavor and aroma! The dry tea matched its picture well but the coconut aroma was intense. I steeped the tea in my preheated mug as recommended ie 1.25 tsp of tea, with 198degF water, tasting the brew at 3 and 5 minutes. Both were dominated by the coconut’s aroma and flavor

The scent of the liquor spoke pleasantly and intensely of coconut – but little else. The flavor of the supporting tea was scarcely detectable to me. The coconut persisted in the after taste for many minutes after I had completed the cup. I feel inclined to attribute this to the artificial flavor.

If you’re a lover of coconut – like me – you will quickly become enamored of this tea – if not you might want to skip this one as the coconut seems all encompassing!

Fantastic. So good. Not an overpowering coconut taste. Subtle enough to taste the tea leaves as well as flavour. Permanent collection for sure. I agree with everyone is saying about the creaminess, you do not need milk in this tea at all. I would recommend it to anyone.
