From DAVIDsTEA

Toast master
Everyone loves a camping trip in the fall. Fresh air, beautiful scenery, hungry bears – ah, the great outdoors. Well, okay, we’ll admit it. We’re only in it for the marshmallows. Nothing beats a freshly toasted marshmallow straight from the campfire. But what if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth without going camping? Try this tea. It’s a sweet, toasty black tea blend with cinnamon, brittle and…you guessed it! Mini marshmallows. Now you can enjoy your favourite outdoorsy treat without a hungry bear in sight.

Ingredients: Black tea, marshmallows, brittle pieces, cinnamon, allspice, kukicha green tea.

Having a cup of this to celebrate the end of the week! I did add one teaspoon of straight black tea to cut the sweetness a bit, and it’s almost just right. Still a bit too sugary for my taste, but it’s a great treat at the end of my day! :)

Today was my first day at my work study job in the library, and it was AWESOME. The librarians I’m working for are so nice, and the collection (I’m in special collections and archives) they have is huge!

Back to tea! Cinnamon and toasted marshmallow, you make my day.

Congratulations on the work study. Sounds interesting. I’m studying library and information technology, which is not as fancy as a Library Science degree, but certainly in the same field.

As for the tea, I will have to give this one another try, now that it is feeling more and more like Autumn.

Congrats again!! :)

Claire

Thank you! :)

I received this tea in the mail today from a swap with nwolf93 and am so excited to try it! It smells good – really sweet with a touch of cinnamon. I’m not the greatest fan of cinnamon, but this tea seems like it has just enough to give it a little spiciness to compliment the other flavors without it being overwhelming. I was worried to see that the tea appears to be a little thin after steeping, but the flavor is perfection – very creamy with marshmallowy goodness. David’s Tea absolutely hit the nail on the head with the flavor and name of this one! I added milk and sweetener, but this tea is so sweet by itself that it would probably be best with milk and just a little sweetener next time. I’m very happy I received this one in the mail today, as it’s a perfect tea to enjoy on a rainy day. Now if I could only build a fire inside and make some smores to go along with it!

-Dry blend has black tea leaves, lots of twigs, tiny marshmallows and pieces of brittle. Marshmallows partially dissolve during steeping.
-Dry blend smells very sweet, like vanilla icing, with a hint of cinnamon. Tea liquor aroma is of warm sugar and cinnamon.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy medium yellow color.
-Toasty with a creamy marshmallow flavor. Sugary-sweet finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener. Not much sweetener is needed.
-Very good tea. Very warming on a chilly day or as an after-dinner dessert tea.

Oh I wish I’d tried that. I tried all the other new ones, but for some reason, I skipped this one.

Josie Jade

Would you like to try some? I’m open to a small swap if you would!

TeaLady441

Sure! Let me know if you see anything in my cupboard that you’re interested in. Maybe Della Terra’s S’Mores? Or whatever you like. I’ll let you know if I have enough to send.

Josie Jade

I’ll pm you :)

Wow, I had really high hopes for this tea. Also, I have a cold so my tastebuds might be off and impaired today. I will definitely try this again and change some things and hopefully increase the rating.

I used 2.5 tsp of tea for my Perfect Mug of this. Somehow though, this is still really weak tasting and is light in colour. There was hardly any tea bits; it was mostly balls of spice and a bajillion mini marshmallows (and yes, I ate one, and it was delicious and spicy and yum). Watching the marshmallows froth while pouring boiling water over them was rather satisfying (I caught myself going “froooooothhhhhh”, and then thinking to myself “good lord Robyn, you can’t even be normal when you’re alone”)

I will say that this is the first tea I’ve ever had that I didn’t feel the need to sweeten. Like I said, it was 75% marshmallows. It’s plenty sweet. It tastes vaguely of cookie dough spices and cinnamon. It’s pretty lacklustre to be honest. If I had to compare it to something, I’d say cookie dough.

Next time: Increase the brewing time to 6-7 minutes instead of 5. Use over double the leaf recommended. Maybe add some sweetener even though it’s already sweet. I’m grasping at straws here, maybe sweetener will bring out some of the flavours. Oh, and next time, don’t be a snuffly sick mess when you drink it.

Whenever I try a new tea, especially DAVIDsTEA, I like to wait for a special moment. And as much as I’d love to follow what the Fall tea collection says and take these teas on an outdoor adventure, unfortunately I do not have that luxury yet.
However, I am enjoying the moment that I am in now, watching quiet rain fall outside my window, with nothing but dark green glistening leaves from the hedges in my view, and listening to woodsy music.

This was the first tea I tried from the Fall collection and the one I was most excited about.
The dry leaf smell doesn’t smell like marshmallows to me, it smells like apples and spice. After that initial disappointment, I can’t expect the tea to taste any different.
This wasn’t the first time I tried it, and I’m actually almost through with the bag, but I doubled the tea this time for hopefully different results.

I’m just not impressed. It doesn’t evoke anything in me or remind me of a toasted marshmallow in any way. It should be called Marsh Apple.
As a Marsh Apple tea, if you double the amount of tea, the cup is drinkable, but not very enjoyable I’m sorry to say. I don’t get it :(

I went a little crazy at DT today. I couldn’t help it, so much yumminess! This was an impulse buy, I went knowing what I wanted, but I was purchasing some of this for a swap and once I smelled it I had to buy it.
It is the flavour equivalent of a warm blanket and a good book. Cozy, comforting bliss. Cinnamon and allspice come out the most with a tough of sweetness from the marshmallows.
The fall collection can never go away.
On another note I finally bought a new kettle, no more CaveMama.

Oh, CURSES! This is going to be a l o n g week having to wait for this to arrive! I’m going to be tearing into it like there’s no tomorrow when it does come! :D

Yay – more more Stone Age morning catastrophes! lol

tigress_al

This sounds so good! I have to wait until Tuesday to purchase this. I have a tea date with my friend on Tuesday…..she wouldn’t mind if I went without her right?…..

BoxerMama

LOL! However, my new kettle doesn’t whistle… it sounds like a harmonica. Scared the crap outta me!

This is a blend I always wanted to try and thanks to TastyBrew, I can! It sounds very unique! The blend itself doesn’t look to have much black tea in it, but I was thrilled it had some roasted green tea in it. I think I see some hazelnuts?! (I don’t know though… the package says it does contain nuts). The marshmallows alone can sell me on this though. I was distracted with sandwich making so this actually brewed for 14 minutes and it was definitely over a teaspoon since there wasn’t really black tea. There were SO many marshmallows though! Unlike the Della Terra marshmallow tea I had yesterday, these didn’t really melt, even in 14 minutes. I’m not going for a second steep seeing as how it already steeped for 14 minutes and doesn’t look very dark in steep color. The flavor is definitely weird. Not terrible… weird. Sweet yet spicy… not much like black tea but it kind of tastes medicinal. Reminds me of the Cocoa Canela they have. Nothing I’d add the name ‘Toasted Marshmallow’ to. Happy to have tried it though!

Stephanie

I felt the same way about it…weird name! Kinda cinnamony for a marshmallow tea heh

TeaNecromancer

I love this tea, to me it tastes like spiced rum just without the rum, though it does seem light on the toasted marshmallow aspect

tea-sipper

Ah! I can see the rum comparison now that you mention it!

1 tablespoon used for 375 ml of water

Thin and dilute-tasting. Caramel-like light sweetness. Spices in the background accentuated at the end of the sip.

May benefit from a longer infusion time as well as agitating tea while brewing to better dissolve marshmallow pieces.

Yes, I bob my infuser up and down with most teas now :D Really helps dissolve the marshmallows in this one!

Tea of the mid-morning here…

This stuff is definitely sweet! I added some soymilk also and I am getting lots of cinnamon and allspice. In fact, I think someone should rename this tea to be “cinnamon sugar cookie” because that’s what it reminds me of. It’s not a bad dessert tea but I don’t think I will need anymore once my current supply is gone.

“Not bad but I don’t need more” was my feeling as well. This tea just has a, “I’ve had this many times before,” feel to it. Nothing unique enough.

Plunkybug

I have not refilled. It is ok, but not what I would call Toasted Marshmallow.

My DAVIDsTEA order arrived today. I have to first say this is the fastest I think I’ve ever gotten my order and I didn’t pay for speedy shipping either! I had to rip right into this one as it was one of the top in the Fall Collection that made me order.

The dry lead smells pretty sweet with hints of cinnamon and all spice flavors going on there. And yes I may have picked out a small marshmallow or three to eat on the spot. While the tea was steeping the flavors that came out reminded me of camping and camp fires. All warm and smokey and the smell was amazing….more cinnamon and spice and light on the sweet.

The taste for me is more of the same with a hint of almost a s’more like quality. Seriously this is some pretty awesome stuff! Good think I thought ahead and added another 50g bag of it to my order! :)

So I decided to make a pot of this today… and what a fine choice it was:) It is so much fun to pour the water over these leaves and watch the marshmallows dissolve. This tea was so perfect to drink while I was doing homework today. It is a mixture of black and some subtle sweetness from the marshmallows. Going to have to buy a tin of this.
