From DAVIDsTEA

Crowning glory

With their exotic, golden flavour and dramatic spiky crown, pineapples are clearly the king of the fruit world. Their original name was “Ananas,” from the Tupi word for “excellent fruit” – we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Here we blend big pieces of pineapple with Tie Kwan Yin oolong tea, for the perfect balance of fresh, fruity and floral. The result? A bright, refreshing blend that’s equally amazing hot or iced. Trust us – it’s like drinking a cup of sunshine.

Ingredients: Hand-rolled Ti Kwan Yin oolong, pineapple, apricot.

Gots me a free sample of this from a really nice girl at DAVIDs last evening. Woohoo free tea!!!

Well it smells like white wine to me when steeped hot. Am I the only one who thinks this? Probably lol! But it does. Anyway it is nice but I do find the oolong base a bit to light for my liking. With so many more oolongs to try, I probably won’t purchase again anytime soon.

I couldn’t taste anything but pineapple and water when I tried it. I agree — too much good oolong out there to waste time with this one.

I have been meaning to try this tea for quite some time now because I really love pineapple, and I also looooove oolong. I needed a new oolong tea on my shelf because I finished my tin of Happy Kombucha (I need AT LEAST one oolong on my shelf at all times! <3). I went into my local David’s during my break at work this weekend and I asked for this one hot. Of course the new employee messed up my order an made it iced, but it is okay because it tasted amazing!!! It was so good that I had to go in the next day during my break at work to buy a lovely blue tin of it!!! I am glad to have this one as a part of my collection (:

Tastes change over time, and I am learning to appreciate oolongs. Initially, man did I not like this tea, but, having had success with Vanilla Oolong, I brewed some up to try this afternoon. Am I ever more impressed with it this time around. Once I understood what to expect from an oolong, the strong pineapple notes really compliment the base oolong flavour. There is a natural sweetness brought be the pineapple, so no extra sweetener is needed. Even though I got sidetracked and super overbrewed this, it was still a great cup of tea!

It’s my birthday and my husband gave me a variable electric kettle (yay!). This is my first tea brewed with it! :)

Dry: Oolong rolled loose tea leaves and large chunks of dried pineapple. Smells like candied pineapple straight out of the sample bag, very sweet and delicious. My husband (who loves pineapple) said, “What is it? Smells good!”

Steeped: The pineapple fragrance dry smells more like dried apricots with a floral note steeped. Lovely unfurling oolong leaves always pleasant to watch in the infuser.

Taste: This is a nice light and fruity tea. The floral oolong note is lovely, with the dried apricots and pineapple really shining through. If you are looking for something with a lot of complexity, this is not it. Very pleasant oolong though overall. I think this would really shine as an iced tea in the summer. This was sent as a sampler, but I might need to pick up a bag at some point.

This is the second of the three free samples that came with my first DAVIDsTEA order, and I’m using it to try to get the taste of the last one (the Salted Caramel) out of my mouth!

Dry, this smells exactly like pineapple jelly beans, and the steeped flavor isn’t much different! The liquor is golden and tastes juicy; pineapple still dominates but the apricot is a little more noticeable while the oolong is a hint at best.

This reminds me of their Citron Oolong, which was dominated by the citrus flavors. That was the Energizer Bunny of flavored teas and was still going strong into the fourth steep. Because of that, I’m curious how this one will re-steep.

Update: The second steep is much better – it tastes less artificial and the oolong makes a more prominent appearance. I’ll take this flavor over the last sample any day!

Dry it smells like someone just cut up a fresh pineapple in my house. Pineapple is not my favourite – I like it, but I don’t love it.

Steeping it smells strangely like children’s grape Tylenol. That doesn’t bring back great memories. The scent of this one is turning my stomach but I’m trying to keep an open mind as it cools.

Nope this one isn’t for me. The smell is too much. I managed one sip and it tastes as it smells.

I didn’t care much for pineapple until I had a fresh, cup up pineapple. Tons better than the canned! I really don’t like canned fruit anyway..

I got this in a swap with Stephanie (Thanks :D)
It’s a good tea, but I’m glad I got this in a swap just to try it out. I don’t think I’ll buy a whole of it. There’s just something that I don’t quite like.. I think it’s the floral note in the smell and taste. It’s very small part so it’s not so bad I hate the tea, it just pings the wrong way. Otherwise, the pineapple tastes and smells like the dried pineapple rings with the crust of sugar all around it. There is a little tartness which I think adds to the pineapple-ness.

Stephanie

Lupicia’s is MUCH better

Second steep was alright. It kept the pineapple taste (albeit less sweet since no agave), found the oolong but it was still a bit thin :(

Bad sleep!!!!!
Must have good tea.

This smells like a candy shop that mated with a giant angry pineapple.
I don’t even like Pineapple and this makes me salivate like crazy…TMI I know but I’m trying to be thorough here.

It is a lovely gold color all brewed up.Doesn’t smell quite as crazy good but I’m hoping the taste will follow through like a punch in the face.

woooo I’m getting graphic.

I know I’ll have to try this iced but first hot I think.

my verdict..it’s not what I was expecting simply from the smell.
It’s definitely Oolong with a nice pineapple frame.

I wanted so much more from this.I was expecting sunshine and got a hot, stuffy day with no sun.

LindaIrvine my bff will like it I think..

I seriously think this is underrated as far as Davids blends are concerned. It is by far my favorite oolong that I’ve had from them, it just has since a nice pineapple-y flavour and is amazing hot or iced.
