the tingly sensation was interesting, I liked that part… but the brew was so weak I could barely taste anything, but what I do get is a foresty minty taste that if stronger, would have been quite pleasant.
Next time, I’ll use more leaf.
I’m sortof tea weary at the moment. So much tea in my cupboard… and so little time to drink!

How long did you steep it for? It really needs at least 10 minutes.
LOL I take it you like this one huh! I steeped it for about 8 min. I’ll definitely try longer next time!! :)
Yeah, I mean, it’s a subtler one. I can see it easily being too weak. I steeped mine at 12 minutes, 14, and 16 with one added leaf, just in case. LOL. And it was admittedly fairly weak by the third steep, but it didn’t taste funny in any way. Just weaker.
Did you add any sweetener? I added honey, for my throat.

I can relate to your “tea weariness.” I got on Steepster a couple of months ago and before I knew it I had so many boxes and tins and sample packets I couldn’t keep track of them all! I have been offline for a bit trying to do a sipdown so I can really concentrate on what I have and any new teas that may sneak in. This tea sounds like one I will definitely want to try so I hope it will be available awhile.
Barb, if you want to try it, I would just go to your nearest DAVIDs/swap for it now, it is/was a limited-time thing. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it in my store recently because the boxes of it REALLY don’t seem to sell, but my store is a bigger location that seems to hang on to stuff longer.

This has to be the most unusual looking tisane I’ve come across in a long while. And I’d like to also mention that this tisane does NOT contain hibiscus (YAY!) so kudos to Davids Tea for not jumping on the hibiscus wagon and adding it to everything that doesn’t contain tea leaves.
The color isn’t pink, but I do taste a berry-ish type flavor to this, along with the distinct wintergreen minty tones and hints of pine-ish flavor. The mint and the evergreen notes give this a very exhilarating sort of taste. Overall, it’s a very delicate kind of flavor though, even after brewing for 10 minutes, but it has a nice, soothing flavor. Enjoyable.

Anyhow, it does also taste kind of lightly forest and very fresh – I’m curious about how it would be iced and a bit sweetened – perhaps tastier? I’m glad I just got this as a sample from the generous Janelle, as it’s certainly an interesting tea to have tried, but I’m very glad I don’t have to drink down too much of this!
First, I should note that right before drinking this, I had a TON of passion fruit sorbet, and the taste was still in my mouth when I drank it. I don’t know if it’s the combination, but wow, this was amazing! So different and soothing and minty and fresh.
I had a hard time deciding how much leaves to use. They don’t fit in any teaspoon, and the box says 2+ tsp per cup. I went pretty randomly, but I wonder if putting more or less would have made a big difference.
In any case, I’m really enjoying this. If you can, eat passion fruit sorbet before. It’s worth it. I swear!

I wonder whether using a 1/4 C measuring scoop would work to estimate quantity? By volume, that’s about 3 tablespoons.
The comments and tealogs on this stuff are so varied and interesting that I’m definitely going to have to try some.
It’s all gone! Tried to order a 25 gram bag (the only size listed) and it’s not available. Foo.
It was pretty hard to measure out this tea as the leaves and pine needles wouldn’t fit in my scoop, so I ended up guesstimating the correct amount. I don’t see any tinges of pink in the steeped tea, but then there weren’t too many sumac berries that I could see in the blend to begin with.
It’s rather unfortunate that this tea tastes mostly like watery Pepto Bismol – not surprising I guess since PB is flavoured with wintergreen. So it isn’t the poor plant’s fault that its flavour immediately brings stomach medicine to mind, I gues,s but it does make it harder to enjoy this blend.
When I make this tea I fill my travel mug to the top with the leaves and then drink it through the steeper. I find that to be an ok amount because the leaves are really big and it doesn’t take alot. I have never tried pepto bismol so the taste problem has never occured to me.
I’m drinking this now… and I know what you mean about pepto!! which isn’t so bad, kindof calming on my throat. Though it is too weak- I wish I’d added more leaves

Oh. My. Gosh.
First I will start by telling you that I bought this for my mom as a birthday gift. She flippin’ loves teas like this; the more Canadian the better! What could be more Canadian than this: wintergreen leaves, cedar green, white pine needles, and red sumac berries. She was so excited about it she had to brew up a pot right away…
It’s like someone took the forest, steeped it, and made tea! Takes me to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park straight away, like I am smelling the pine in the air—only instead of just smelling I am drinking it as well. You definitely taste the wintergreen first, but there’s depth added with the pine, spruce, and berries. Light, refreshing, crisp perfection.
This tea looks amazing, and such a fresh and clean sight.
I just wish I had found it even the least bit tasty. At best, I can say the experience was “interesting”. My mouth felt all tingly and it definitely tasted like wintergreen and mint and all kinds of tingly woodsy things. Actually, it tasted a bit like watered-down Buckley’s. Which, despite what my wife thinks, isn’t some kind of huge Canadian practical joke.
I love the smell of this tea, and I enjoy the idea of this tea, but I have to agree with my wife. It tastes like a watered-down Buckley’s. I’m going to give it one last try and then it may go in the swap pile.

This is a forest in a mug. I feel like I’ve known this taste my whole life even though this is the first time I’ve experienced it in tea form. Maybe my affinity springs from the desire to return to the woods after living in Toronto for 2 years? Anyway, this tea is not one to throw in a thermos and have on the go, you need to sit down and close your eyes!
