From DAVIDsTEA

It’ll change your life

This is the kind of tea that puts you in a great mood, inspires harmonious relationships and makes you outrageously productive. How did we do it? First we selected our favourite organic and biodynamic black teas from Yunnan, Assam and Darjeeling. And then we sipped different variations until we’d created the ultimate balance. Could there be a better way to start your day? (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Organic black tea from China (Yunnan) and India (Fair Trade Certified Darjeeling and Fair Trade Certified Assam).

Feels like -34 here. I can’t wait to leave this city and finally go home. But hopefully David’s Organic Breakfast will brighten my day.

I picked up a couple different unflavoured blacks yesterday to try against my English Breakfast. This blend is slightly lighter in colour dry. But still smells pretty yummy.

Steeped it smells, hmm, perhaps a little less refined? More raw? There seems to be a syrup-y taste lingering in the background of this tea. Maybe that’s the orange black tea part – Darjeeling? Hm either way, great blend but I still prefer my English Breakfast.

This was in my tea calendar yesterday and I didn’t have time to try it. It was good timing as I need something to help wake me up this, er, afternoon. I’ve been in bed most of the day feeling off so wanted something bold and vibrant and a breakfast tea seemed to fit perfectly.

This will suffice, but for me it’s kind of just okay.

tea calendar!? Do tell!!!

DavidsTea had a 25 Days of Tea advent/whenever calendar, and I just had to grab one.

Unfortunately it was a really limited run so while they are still in some of the stores they weren’t available online. But it’s been very fun! http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/photo.php?fbid=473748067909&set=a.60428447909.68462.55013852909

I don’t understand breakfast teas. What is it that makes them a breakfast tea? I find this tea is really strong and has a bitter edge to the end of the sip that was softened by sugar. It is okay for what it is, but I’m really not very excited by plain or straight teas.

Tuscanteal

I like the right straight tea and am just learning to appreciate them now. I didn’t particularly like this one though by DT. I found it quite bitter as well and finicky to steep.

Dustin

I’m trying to learn appreciation for straight teas too, but ones like this make it challenging. Doesn’t help that it was too heavy on my empty stomach and made me feel nauseous. Breakfast made it a little better tho. Maybe that is why it is a breakfast tea? You need to eat with or before it!

I bought 20g of this to try the other day when I was craving a simple straight black. I don’t have one in my cupboard! So I figured this would do the trick.

Finally got around to trying it this morning, and it’s really nice! Echoing what others have said, it’s nothing particularly special, but a solid breakfast blend none the less. It’s nice and bright and doesn’t leave much of an aftertaste, which are all good things in my book.

Having another cup now to calm my nerves, I’ve got my first ever yoga class in a few hours! Kind of counterproductive to be a ball of nerves over something that’s supposed to help you relax. I’m excited to be trying something new though.

I’m coming to the end of my DT’s 24 days of Christmas, and that makes me sad. Today’s offering was David’s Organic Breakfast. I could definitely taste the Keemun in it, it reminded me of the Teavana Keemun that I’d had before (which is the only reason I could identify the keemun). That was the dominant flavor note I could identify, I didn’t really get much darjeeling, as there wasn’t much astringency (I associate a mild astringency with darjeeling. I’m not sure if that is accurate. But anyway,). Overall it was a lovely black, smooth and full, with a nice mouth-feel, not too heavy, but not too thin. I got a couple of steeps out of it as well, and the second was almost as good as the first. I’ll definitely consider putting this one into a breakfast rotation should I order again from David’s Tea.

This was a decent breakfast tea bit not one of my favorites. Mostly because I’m not a fan of Darjeeling so it’s difficult for me to judge this tea fairly. It was fun to try, but I don’t think I’d restock this regularly.

Dry Leaf Nose: Rich black teas with a slight honey note.

Liquor: Dark red-brown.

Flavour: Classic black tea flavour with a natural sweetness and enough body to withstand the addition of milk and sweetener. This tea has a delicate balance of astringency that makes it suitable as a self drinker.

Woke up super early (well, for me anyway) today, and decided that since I have some time before my lunch date I’ll be having a peaceful tea session:)

The dry leaves give off a pleasant black tea smell, with a little bit of smokiness.
It brews into a fairly dark brew (I’m sure I didn’t leave it in for longer than 3 mins), and smells like black tea (okay, that was lame).
The taste..to be honest, all I’m getting is normal black tea flavors, which kinda disappoints me since the package says its a blend of different black teas.
I added a bit of milk and sugar to see if it would be any better, which it did, but I still didn’t wow me or give me that tranquility that ooglongs and jasmines give me.

Not a bad tea, but not special either.

I’m starting to think I’m not actually that crazy about this one. It’s good, but I don’t find myself craving it in the morning. The quest for a better breakfast tea continues…

I’m not disappointed or impressed with this tea. It is simply just another breakfast blend. Which doesn’t mean it is not enjoyable. I love black tea, and David’s Organic Breakfast meets that requirement. ;)

My husband takes this to work (in a rotation with other black teas), but feels the same way I do about it. My “breakfast” tea is usually Black Needles or Lapsang Souchong. If I’m especially tired, Saigon Chai does the work too, because if nothing else smelling the spices will wake me up.
