From DAVIDsTEA

Mojito Magic

The deep green leaves of this fresh-tasting herb grow in pointy spearhead formations. Perhaps this is what makes spearmint such a tried-and-true weapon against adversaries like headaches, tension, nausea and stomachaches. It might also explain why it’s such a sharp base for tea mojitos. Just add a tablespoon of lime, a shot of rum and a little sugar or agave to your cup. Serve hot or chilled.

Ingredients: Organic spearmint leaves from Oregon and Washington State, USA.

Day 23 of tea!

I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of the advent calendar! What!

Another old favourite for today, though it’s normally one I can only drink when I’m feeling under the weather. Not so much today, this tastes much better than I remember – and the smell is amazing. I love that this is just plain, straight up spearmint. No extra things.

Backlog from last night.

Last night I had a truly epic meal to celebrate my mom’s birthday through Toronto’s Summerlicious festival. God, the main course – coq au vin with mushrooms, bacon, and mascarpone mashed potato – was fucking delicious. I am okay with swearing, it was that tasty.

Anyways, when I got home, I was so full that I figured I needed some mint tea to help calm my stomach down.

Now, I’ve been noticing a problem with my tin of spearmint lately. It smells kind of off, somehow. I think this is because when I first bought the empty tin, I didn’t realize the importance of letting the tin air-dry for a few days after washing it. I just put the spearmint leaf in pretty much directly after towel-drying it. Now the tea smells weird to me, but I can’t tell if it’s actually the tea, or if it’s just my nose. The other people in the house don’t smell anything wrong – but I know from past experience that my sense of smell is more acute than theirs…so, I don’t know.

Thoughts? Should I just dump the whole tin out, wash it, let it air dry again, and then get some new fresh spearmint to put in?

I tend to bake my time a little after I wash them to make sure they’re dry in all their crevices.

Mmm! I’m not usually a mint person, but I really liked this tea. I can see how it could either be a “wake up!” tea or a “relax and go to bed” tea. The mint is quite strong and bold, but almost sweet. This is certainly one I wouldn’t have normally thought to try, but now that I have, I really like it!

I literally took one sip and it made me gag. I brought the rest home to my family members and we all disliked it equally. So I gave it to my plant and it died the next day (I kid you not). It was revolting (I’m really sorry) it tasted nothing like spearmint.

I don’t think I have ever given such a terrible review to a tea before, nor have I ever used the term “revolting to describe a tea. Well, I guess there is a first for everything (sadly). This tea was a real disappointment because I really wanted to give a good review for this tea but That’s just not possible.

I used it in a mojito, so I have not had it straight up. Will edit my rating when I try it alone

This has a great smell and a nice, crisp taste of mint. I prefer DT’s Peppermint, but the Spearmint is still a great tea. I think I’ll try combining the two.

I love mint, but haven’t tried any mint teas other than the generic tetley brand, but this one is fantastic! The dry tea smells like spearmint gum, which I love, then steeped it definitely tastes spearminty but not overwhelming or bitter. I’ve heard people say it’s good iced too, but when I tried it I wasn’t a fan, but I think I steeped it too long and too strong haha, definitely a good tea though, excellent for when you’re not feeling well, as everyone knows, mint is good for stomach aches! :P

Finally, a David’s Tea that I like. But then, I am a hardcore mint fan. They’d really have to screw up a mint tea for me not to like it (like add lemongrass & lemon verbana ahem Tazo Zen ahem). Not as amazing as my own home-grown mint, but still, quite drinkable.

I haven’t had a spearmint/peppermint tea in years. I use to drink only peppermint teas and now I drink none. My, how times have changed since those days…

Either way, I’m pregnant and uncomfortable and so ready to be done being pregnant, so I grabbed this one as a comfort tea tonight. It’s perfect for what I needed. I’m starting to feel less… just everything… And it’s warming me up perfectly too because it’s gross out.
Wow, I’m just a grump aren’t I? Sorry… I’m hoping things will get better in the next few days. I’m stressed. I’m at the point in my pregnancy, to the day, that I went into labour with baby #1. If I follow suit this time, then by tomorrow morning I would have baby #2… So I’m stressed baby might come, but also really wanting it to happen… I don’t know. Anyways, I guess we’ll see what happens.

Thank you tea for making me feel better.

Good luck with the delivery!

I’m totally the same with mint teas. Once I get my cupboard # down a bit (especially with herbals) I’m gunna pick up some sort of mint based tea.

Whenever I get an upset stomach drinking this tea is minty without being overpowering and provides the minty powers of settling an upset stomach! It really works and is an enjoyable way of making yourself feel better instead of popping pills!
