This was surprisingly good! I didn’t know what to expect with a name like Kapha bc I don’t know anything about ayurvedic stuff, but I do know I like licorice and spices and throat soothing goodness!

Sipdown! (down to 233 – with all my incoming teas factored in…)

Ayurvedic, just the name is a turn off, don’t you think?. I never remember how to spell it, lol! But I know a little about it, Ayurvedic medicine is quite a science and philosophy, pitta, vata, etc… I’m just not zen enough yet to become an adept. But it is quite interesting.

I love this tea!

Oh, thanks for the explanation. I had no idea, although I agree that the name makes the tea less interesting… It’s good though, despite the name.

The dry tea smells quite minty – spicy mint basically – but when the water was added it took on an aroma more like a chai tea. Interestingly it’s the spices – the cinnamon and the cloves that are at the forefront of this tea. I’d expected it to taste more gingery given the discription, but this blend had only a light trace. The licorice is an interesting touch – I’ve found that it often overwhelms the flavours of anything else it’s blended with but in this case the blenders seem to have gotten it right and it’s just a dash of sweet flavour.

It’s an interesting herbal blend and nice to have around when I get bored with my honeybush teas in the evenings.

The ayurvedic teas from DT are about the only ones I have very close to zero interest in trying. Interesting to hear about though!

Someday you have to try them though – after you get through all the others! :)

When I think of terrifying in the future, I will think of this epic shootout scene in True Detective. The buildup was fantastic, and I thought – like most shows of this nature – it would be a major scene… and yet nothing ever prepared me for this. The sheer terror, the way it was filmed in one long sequence… even with the distasteful nature of it all, my breath is still taken away. I’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall as that scene was written (little comprehensible dialogue to boot), and then, in turn, to have watched it being filmed. Amazing.

This tea? Yes, it’s smooth… kind of like the cinematography I just had my mind blown by. Thank you Janelle for sharing this with me!

YUMMY IN MY TUMMY

This is an awesome herbal blend, and also my first ayurvedic tisane from DavidsTea. I bought 50g online and now I want to order another 100g…

There are a lot of delicious ingredients in here and they meld so very well. Ginger cinnamon cloves cardamom tulsi saffron peppermint, I feel good just sniffing the cup. I believe this is also the only ayurvedic blend without chamomile. Chammy and I have a tolerant relationship, but i’m super glad there is no cham in here.

All in all, this is a great cup of herbal goodness!

The flavor of the loose tea is really nice – I especially smelled the peppermint, fennel, and the licorice.
After brewing it I smell even more peppermint and it seems more like a digestive tea than a general “herbal” tea.
Taste: weirdly sweet – that must be the licorice. This doesn’t taste like something that would pep me up – I’m half expecting this to make me drowsy actually.
It’s not bad and I’m really acquiring a taste for the more medicinal herbal blends, so I’ll wait and see if this actually gives me energy.
The flavor isn’t bad and at least it’s interesting.

This tastes much better than I expected! I could really go for being woken up today but I’ve had plenty of caffeine, so I gave this a try. I think it’s helped clear my head a little and boost my alterness. There are a lot of ingredients in here I don’t really like, but blended together they make for a pretty pleasant spicy-but-sweet tea. Not something I’d reach for, but good for when I’m feeling herbally, I think.

Cold steeped this tea overnight as a test.
DANG it is good! I found it quite medicinal as hot tea, but as iced tea it is minty licorice-y freshness. It tastes more sweet this way and the fennel isn’t overpowering. I filled my water bottle with it and I am trying to sip it slowly so it’s not gone too soon. I started a second batch immediately. I have to raise the rating now!

2 tsp per 400mL mug. Boiling water. Bare. 8-minute steep. Rating: 95.

I really don’t like licorice in tisanes, so I’ve been staying away from the DavidsTea Ayurvedics. But it’s all a matter of balance. As in the Shanti, the licorice here just adds some depth and sweetness without dominating. This tisane is bright and cheerful and really tasty. It’s herbal, so it needs a good long steep to get all the flavours out. Several mornings over the last week I’ve drunk this instead of a tea with caffeine for my first morning cuppa, and I’ve woken up just fine. The weather here in Newfoundland has turned relentlessly cold, dull and wet, so this tisane is a real help. Sweet, a bit spicy, minty — but all in a good balance. Definitely worth a try.

I took a chance on this one (don’t like licorice, either) and was pleasantly surprised too.
