This is a brand new tea that launched about a week ago as part of a collection of Japan-inspired blends. Other teas included were things like Tokyo Earl Grey and returning blends like Cherry Blossom!
The flavour direction of this green tea is probably fairly obvious given the name, but for people who maybe aren’t as familiar with yuzu I would think of this more like a blueberry lemonade blend. Compared to other blueberry teas from DT like Blueberry Jam and Blueberry Muffin, this is a lot more juicy and vibrant tasting with a hint of tart hibiscus to go alongside fresh and zesty yuzu. Blueberry Muffin is probably the most similar in flavour, but there isn’t that buttery element to this blend and it obviously also has a citrus element. I’d definitely say it’s more blueberry that yuzu/citrus though…
The green tea isn’t the strongest flavour here, though it does add a decent amount of overall body and some caffeine. But people looking for a tea-forward blend might be a little let down by this rather fruity one. Because it’s so fresh and fruity, it does make an excellent iced tea though! I’ve been drinking it that way (also cold brewed) in the half a year leading up to its official launch. Great in a tea pop too, if that’s more your vibe.
We all know that I adore Blueberry Jam (it’s my favourite DT blend), so working on a new blueberry tea was very interesting for me. Thankfully they’re quite different and, thus, fit really different roles in my tea drinking routines. I am a sucker for blueberry teas though, so this has still featured fairly strongly in my line up.
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
