GOPALDHARA WONDER ‘GOLD’ one of the most popular tea among the Darjeeling Tea Connoisseurs. A very limited stock is manufactured from the YOUNG TEA PLANTATIONS of this garden and this particular lot has been tagged as GOLD due to the supreme quality.

The smell of the dry leaves is very floral. And when brewed for 5 Minutes this tea gives golden amber liquor. The sip is smooth from start to finish and this tea is not at all astringent. The aftertaste is of sweet jasmine like which keeps you craving for more.

Overall a wonderful tea and possibly the best buy of 1st Flush by us this season. This is one of our favorites and if you want to really understand why Darjeeling Tea is known as the ‘CHAMPAGNE OF TEAS, try this masterpiece from Gopaldhara.

Backlog:

Yes, the leaf does look green – but the label says black! But I’ve come to expect that from a Darjeeling tea.

This is a lovely Darjeeling: Sweet, crisp and refreshing. The liquid is much paler than some of the Darjeelings that I’ve had in the last year and it has a greener taste to it. And since it’s a first flush, there isn’t a strong muscatel to this cup.

Light notes of vegetation and hints of jasmine. Sweet grassy notes. A really nice afternoon tea.

Jillian

I’ve found that Darjeelings, especially first flushes, looks and steep more like green teas even if they technically aren’t.

LiberTEAS

agreed. I always steep a Darjeeling at 195°F or sometimes lower if the leaves look really green. When I used to steep Darjeeling at boiling temperatures, they’d end up too bitter and astringent. But when brewed at a lower temperature they’re quite lovely.

So apparently this is a black tea? But it looks like a green tea…and goodness, it definitely tastes like a green tea! I’m kinda confused by this tea to be honest. xD
It tastes like grass though, so I don’t really like it. xD
It’s nice to look at, just not drink. :P
Thanks for the sample, LiberTEAS!

OMGsrsly

I find darjeelings to be best treated as a green. They’re not my favourite, but steeping low and short gives them a better flavour IMO. :)

Lindsay

First flush darjeelings are so green! I totally agree. I think they’re also better steeped at a lower temp. Second flush darjeelings are more like real black tea. :)

Ost

Really? Why is it labeled as a black tea then? It’s so confusing!

OMGsrsly

I don’t think they’re treated as a green through processing, so they’re still considered a “black”. And for some reason a lot of companies still recommend steeping them with boiling water, which just makes my tongue shrivel up. ;)

Ost

Ah…weird… Well I steeped it at a low temp…Still wasn’t a fan XD
