From Dammann Frères

Deliciously fruity, a black tea blending the flavors of orange and pineapple with a hint of maraschino and caramel. A great Christmas tea, smooth, subtle, all in nuances!

Ingredients: Black tea (Camellia sinensis), orange peel, flavors (maraschino, caramel, pineapple) and sweet orange essential oil

#adventageddon Day Twenty Four – 4/7

DF really through me for a loop today; they included two teas in the advent! At first I assumed they were identical teas, just with different tea bases, but they certainly tasted different. This was sweet, bright and fruity – with tropical fruit notes. I liked it a lot! It was a pleasant amount of body as well, and not too similar to other teas from the advent.

Thanks for the sample, MissB! It’s great to be able to try this since it has so many notes that catch my fancy. However, I wish I could get the orange, pineapple, and caramel notes that others are listing. I rather get mostly cinnamon candy and a hint of generic fruit in the background. Plus all the flavours in general are muted. It’s good but not outstanding, you know? I’m still very grateful to have tried it because I know that when I make a future DF order, I will no longer have to wonder about this one.

I swear I have some of this at home… Yet haven’t reviewed it? Odd. Regardless, must have it in excess here (Café J’adore in Lyon, France) as it’s the only tea option on their brunch menu. Lots of other DF teas to order separately though. Reminds me of an orange Chai.

Dammann Frères Advent Calendar – December 24th

Aw, the very last tea of the calendar! I must say, I’ve been very happy with this purchase and I would consider getting it again, but it seems like the majority of the teas are repeated each year… So I’m not sure I would want to pay the $40 to try all of the same teas again, even if it is a cool concept. I’m drinking this final tea two days late because I didn’t want to take it with me to our relatives’ house. So it’s “Day-After-Christmas Tea” for me! The sachet smells strongly of bubblegum… :(

Hmm, I didn’t expect this tea to be so mildly flavored, especially considering the smell. It does remind me of bubblegum a bit but since it’s more subtle it doesn’t bother me. I can also taste the caramel aspect, as well as the mellow base tea. Overall, it’s okay, but a touch disappointing as the finale tea of this calendar.

LiberTEAS

I think this is the one I want to try next year.

That actually sounds really good! XD Sorry it didn’t end with a bang for you though! :( That always sucks!

TheLastDodo

I agree with LiberTEAS! Hearing about the types of tea in that calendar sounded way better than what we tried with Teanzo. (Sorry Teanzo.)

I can’t really believe that it’s the last tea of the calendar. I still have quite a few to drink still.. But it’s hard to believe that Christmas is tomorrow!

I smell mostly cherry and the black tea base. I can’t smell the pineapple or orange… Maybe they’ll be more evident in flavor.

Sipping… First I taste the cherry, then the black tea, followed by a very light pineapple note. It’s nice, but doesn’t really make me think Christmas. I suppose it faintly reminds me of a fruit cake.. But the flavors aren’t all that festive in my mind.

Here’s to a safe and happy Christmas Eve!
