I’d forgotten how sweet this one was, as it’s been a good month or two since I last made it. Such buttery, lemony biscuits!

Absolutely, buttery, lemony biscuits. I don’t get poppy as a thing in this, or almond per se. But definitely buttery, lemony biscuits. How many times can I say buttery, lemony biscuits in a review?

In other news, slightly despairing that my hands are itching to get stuck into new knitting projects and I have ABSOLUTELY NO MORE SPACE FOR KNITTING. Seriously. I may have to investigate viable alternatives to etsy to, like, make space for new knitted things. SO MUCH KNITTING. Also, had photos taken for my new married-people visa yesterday evening and ugh. Why do I look so bad in these photos? I’m just trying to make a neutral not-smiling face and I look like somebody’s just murdered my cat and my eyes are oddly lopsided and my forehead is all wrong and I just… UGH. It’s hard to feel self-confident in the wake of a face like that.

My spouse, on the other hand, looks like a radiantly beautiful majestic bear. It’s not fair.

I enjoyed my sample of this tea today! It has that nice French powdered sugar thing going on. Definitely pasty/sweet. But I screwed up and drank it with some grapefruit chapstick on my lips, and was getting a definite fruit flavor…whoops :P

Sipdown! (69)

I think I’m ready to give up on this one.

I’ve tried it several times, because it’s so highly rated and so many people seem to love it so I always felt like I should give it another chance because I was missing something.

But really, I just find it bland. The base is somewhat earthy and woody, which is fine, but then there’s not much else here? I get a hint of marzipan and a light powdery taste. Not sure if that’s meant to be floral or berry or what?

Oh well. More for everyone else! ;) And thanks to Courtney for the share!

ETA: I am getting some buttery biscuit in the aftertaste as it cools more. But I want MOAR!

Aww, but that’s okay! We can’t all love every tea. :)

I’ll love this one in your place so you can move on ;)

Courtney

Agreed gmathis :)

Went through my drawers in the office and realized I had this one left over from a while ago. It was a single serving so it was completely sealed so I figured it would still be good and let me tell you oh yes it is still delicious. I love Dammann Freres they have such interesting flavor combinations. I am a big fan of marzipan and in this tea it is quite nice. A sublte nutty flavor too yum. It’s finally getting chilly here so this is such a delight to warm me up on this chilly morning. :-)

A sample from Cteresa. I gave 1 tsp of leaf 3 minutes in boiling water, and was rewarded with a light golden liquor, which smells sweet and delicately floral. First sip, and I immediately thought cherry. Cherry jam? I also get an almond note, and a light buttery, bakey, biscuitty flavour. Sipping this one does remind me of a jammie dodger! It’s a dessert tea if ever there was one.

As a fan of dessert teas, this one is obviously going to score well with me. I like the almost over-sweet candy-like notes, and like how accurately the biscuit flavour takes shape, and I’m enjoying the fruity-floral notes that really help to round this one out. This is definitely one I’d look to add to my cupboard. It’s completely delicious as a mid-morning treat!

Love this one! It’s been a while since it was in my cupboard.

Ooo…. Very floral and fruity. A little nuts in the background I think, but sweet nuts like frangipane.

Thank you for sharing, Shmiracles!

I do like this one, and the name is SUPER fun. But I think it’s just too sweet-candy-fruity-floral for me to want to keep it around.

Does it taste similar to marzipan?

ashmanra

Puerh Gourmand is really tasty, too!

OMGsrsly

It doesn’t taste like marzipan to me. It tastes like floral and berries. Maybe a wee hint of candy almond in the background.

ashmanra

Ai don’t get marzipan, either. I do get that biscuit flavor they mention, and it really is BISCUIT. So cool. How do they do it?

Really nice, subtle tea. I don’t taste much almondiness, but to me, that’s a bonus. Just a mellow sweetness on top of the black tea base.

Thanks Schmiracles for sparing some of this tea!

This one I really like. I could tell before I brewed it that it was going to be a good one. It smelled like raspberry jam or those cookies that have that red jelly centre, can’t remember the name of them. I’m also getting strong raspberry jam in the taste, and some buttery cookie type flavour, but that is quite subtle compared to the raspberry. I used up the whole sample on this cup, so I’m glad I’m enjoying it. If I ever made a DF order, I would definitely get this!
