A marvelous matcha that makes an insanely delicious matcha latte when combined with milk or your milk substitute of choice. Rich and enveloping with thick and sweet notes, this matcha gives the palate a burst of flavour.

This matcha is from Yame County, Fukuoka Prefecture on the southernmost Japanese island of Kyushu. It is from a small village called Hoshino, before it was merged with neighbouring villages to form the expanded city of Yame. Yame is located in a mountainous area with the Hoshino River that flows from the east to the west, creating an ideal climate for growing high-quality tea. The land is fertile, altitude is higher, and the air is moist and foggy. Tea trees grow slowly under these conditions, which results in complexity and depth in the tea’s sweetness and savory “umami” flavors.

I really enjoy the Kotobuki matcha I picked up from Cultivate earlier in the year, but lately I’ve been really enjoying Yame matcha for it’s most roasty and nutty taste. So, I decided to pick up this matcha and give it a go – I’ve really only had good experiences with Cultivate.
It’s honestly very nice! Sweet, a bit naturally sweet and with a toasty and warming flavour that really reminded me of sunflower seeds/butter. I think I’ll enjoy drinking this matcha a lot!
