Cream Earl Grey White

Last night my mom suggested I try to see if Sebastian would play with these plastic balls with bells in them. The first parakeet I ever had, Beaky, started playing with us when my mom and I rolled ping pong balls on the floor.

I took Sebastian over to my bed so I could kneel on the floor and hopefully that’d make him feel more comfortable. I set him on the bed. I start shaking one of the balls near him, and he just jumps on that hand. Soooo…guess not. But hey, he likes my hand! He then eventually flipped out and this ended with him climbing through my hair. I thought he was lost in there briefly.

I have had only one white EG, but I thought this sounded intriguing so it’s my first tea today, another day where I am too irritated to go anywhere. I don’t know what my problem is and it’s driving me crazy. All the tea I drank yesterday didn’t help.

I am experimenting with white tea steep times now, since I liked a tea at just one minute the other day, I tried it with this one. It works, I quite like it better than going for 3+.

At first I wasn’t sure about this, the way the hay notes of the white tea blended with the vanilla was kind of weird. But after letting it cool just a tad bit more, I quite enjoyed it. It’s really light on the bergamot, though it mixes nicely with the white tea.

I would actually like the bergamot to be a bit stronger but since I’m sure the other notes on this steeped it longer than me, it doesn’t seem like that can be brought out with a longer steep. No problem though, that’s just how this one is!

This was from the traveling teabox! SO FUN to get this!! I’ll be taste testing a bunch of them while I have the box. This was one of Alphakitty’s favorites, so I had to try it. I think I’m getting the white tea heebies from this one. White tea is my least favorite. The bergamot flavor is okay but there isn’t too much cream flavor here for me. In my opinion, earl grey creams are best with black tea, but I’m willing to try earl grey anything!

I am not the biggest white tea person. It’s not that I don’t enjoy them when I have them, because I often do, it’s just that I rarely seek them out. Nonetheless I requested this one from Alphakitty because although I have had Earl Grey white teas before, I’ve never had an Earl Grey cream white tea. Sounded interesting!

I don’t have much of a default steep time for white teas, so I guessed on this one. I have a feeling I should have steeped it a little longer for optimal flavor. As it is, it’s pretty tasty. It definitely smells like an Earl Grey cream, though obviously without the black tea notes. The bergamot is pretty light, and I would probably like more in the blend, but it is overall creamy and vanilla-y. The white tea base is smooth and not too hay-ish or grassy. A pretty nice tea.

I’ve been debating for a while which tea to have for my first tasting note—kind of silly, but it seems important! This one seems the most fitting, as I wouldn’t have it without Steepster. About a month ago there was a post about Culinary Teas having a $100 giveaway, and I entered and promptly forgot about it. Then two days before my birthday I got a surprise email and won! This was the first tea I added to my cart and my favorite of the 12 I got, so I shall christen my Steepster account with it.

I love earl greys, they were one of the first teas I ever had but there are so many varieties that it’s pretty hard to get tired of. It’s my go-to evening tea, but I’ve never tried a white blend and liked it… until now, of course. The cream elements elevate this tea perfectly—it’s light, sweet, creamy, with a mild hint of citrus. This is definitely a subdued and mellow tea, without that in-your-face bergamont a lot of blends have. It’s so comforting, like drinking a shortbread cookie with icing. I always put milk in my earl grey and it adds an almost overly creamy flavor here, so I take it with just sugar. Unless I’m feeling sleepy—while it has caffeine, this tea with milk puts me right to sleep!
