From Camellia Sinensis

This loose Pu Er is composed of beautiful large full leaves. When rinsed, the leaves offer warm aromas of woods (incense), earth and menthol. The dark liquor is light and has delicate sweet and fruity nuances. An accessible, and easy to prepare, tea!

Had an enjoyable afternoon with this one. Not much to say beyond the fact that it’s been a decent tea…just not one i MUST HAVE in my cupboard, so that’s good (for me at least hahaha). This of course means that i managed to hit my Feb goal of 110 teas AND i’ve hit my weight goal as well (well more than) so yay for travelling tea boxes and drinking more than i have been because of working from home :)

Congrats on reaching your goals!!!

I have spent most of the day playing with my tea stash. Comparing actual cupboard to spreadsheet and steepster. Weighing all my teas, updating my spreadsheet. Reorganizing, moving all the smallish amounts into the sample bin, etc. The moral of that project….I havea mountain of tea, and I have way more pu’erh than anything else.
So while I was doing that, I was drinking this tea. I wasn’t taking notes, but it was pretty good. What I consider a typical shou. Nothing nasty, but nothing that jumped out either. I think I liked this one more than the one last night, but theyywere both just nice nit spectacular. All in all a nice tea day.
Thanks OMGsrsly for the sample. :)

Sil

i really should weigh my cupboard one weekend just for fun….

Dexter

Your cupboard is so under control compared to mine. Weighing is an interesting excercise that really puts it into perspective.

Terri HarpLady

I’m afraid if I start weighing things I will enter into a new level of OCD that might now be conducive to me ever accomplishing anything again in my life, LOL.
Seriously, I have actually considered it…maybe as an annual exercise to remind me of why I don’t need to buy more tea right now :)
I think late october might be the right month for that, to keep me away from all the black friday sales in nov?

Sil

I did it for curiosities sake this time… it’s usually a column in my spreadhseet that is a rough estimate that rarely gets updated except to move from initial quantity to zero lol

Dexter

I don’t update every time I drink a tea – if I finish it off, I change it to zero, but I don’t update as I drink it. Then about everything 3 months or so, I go through and weigh everything and make sure spreadsheet, actual cupboard, and steepster cupboard all match. Except this time that I’m out one tea. :(
The first time I did this I didn’t buy anything for four months… quite a shock to the system…

Terri HarpLady

I’ll probably do it some day…

I got this because the description said it was an “accessible, easy to prepare tea.” Sounds good to me. It’s super light and fluffy; a loose tea, not a brick.

8g in 100ml
Dry: Woodsy, spicy.
Rinse: Yep, smells like a shou. I let it rest about 5 minutes just because.
Rinse 2: 5 seconds (I’m doing this with a basket in my tea cup because it’s easy.) Smells like a shou. Earthy, foresty. Honestly, so far I can’t tell that it’s different from other shou puerhs I’ve had. IDK. Oh hey, that does taste different. I can’t tell that it smells really different right now though. Might just be my nose.
5s: This is quite dark, but very clear. It’s somewhat resinous smelling. Mushrooms, forest, etc. It reminds me of the puerh I have that I really like (1990 Kunming), only both really strong yet mellow at the same time.
10s: A little more spice. It’s not clovey, but the feeling in my mouth is reminding me of cloves.
15s: Quite a bit darker, maybe a little sweeter?
15s: Not as tingly.

And I have been catted, so I can’t lean forward to get more water without tossing him off my lap. :)

It’s certainly accessible. No raunchy flavours, even though it is quite dark and strong. Super mellow. Actually, as I’ve drunk this and edited my writing… I’d almost call this boring. Have I already been exposed to too many puerh teas? Was I expecting too much?

Although… I have the munchies. Hmm…

“And I have been catted..” lol

OMGsrsly

I didn’t know what else to call it? All of a sudden I had a cat on my lap!

gmathis

That is a wonderful phrase. Bob, our Cat of Very Little Brain, is a cuddle bunny and wills himself ten pounds heavier when you try to get up—you can just feel him pushing you back down :)

OMGsrsly

Aww.. :)
