From Butiki Teas

Our Smoked Maple Banana tea has gentle smoke notes and is lightly malty with a sweet finish. Banana and maple notes meld together perfectly for a tea that brings comfort during a cold winter breakfast. With brown crystal sugar, this tea comes to life with rich maple and a creamy banana similar to that of a banana cream pie. The smoke element keeps the tea from becoming cloyingly sweet. We highly recommend paying close attention to the steeping parameters for this tea.

Trapped in a dull meeting. Ugh.

I had this for my travel-mug breakfast tea today. I generally dislike smokiness in my tea. However, it is fairly mild here. Turns out smoky works well with maple. The banana adds a sweet creaminess that rounds out the flavor. Overall, a solid start to the day.

I have some major backlogging to do!

Certainly a surprise here! I didn’t expect to like this one so much since smoky teas still seem so weird to me. But, anything Butiki must be tasted!! So, I bought it and let it sit there for a couple months untouched before finally working up the courage to try it out on a cold night. The banana was totally there and, while the maple was not something I necessarily would have picked out as actually being maple, I think it did well to keep the smokiness from becoming campfireyness :) I thought this was one I was going to end up trying once and then pawning off on others (though, since Stacy closed, nothing Butiki really has to be pawned off in this community so much as hoarded and protected with your life hahahah) . However, I will be happy to drink the rest of this on the last remaining cold evenings as spring hits :)

Hmm but if you only rated it a 73 then perhaps you would like some combination of teas from your wishlist in exchange for the rest of your Smoked Maple Banana?? Its one of my favs and I am trying to scavenge all that is left out there!! I have Earl Grey Cream by Zen, Apricot by Harney, Soho by Harney, and Lychee by Harney… or feel free to check my Cupboard and Swap Thread in the forums!

Ok, I’m really liking this and wishing I had of picked up a little more than just an ounce! I’ve noticed that banana is one of those flavors that either works really really well or is absolutely hideous… and Stacy seems to do banana oh so well… why did I doubt?? This tea has a good hit of banana and smoke and a touch of milk brings out the maple flavor. I’ll definitely miss this once its gone.

Banana is a hard flavor to get right in tea, but Stacy pulls it off well. This tea has a very natural and lightly sweet banana flavor that develops mid-sip and then fades as it is overtaken by a lingering smoky aftertaste. I like it, but I wish I could taste the maple flavoring, which isn’t coming through for me at all. Though I don’t usually sweeten my tea, I may just have to experiment with adding a bit of maple syrup to this one!

Oh man, this is so good. I can taste the sweet AND the smoke right now, even though the snot monster is threatening to overtake my life.

I added a little sweetened condensed milk, because it’s what I have in the fridge right now. I need to go get some milk, but I got back from shopping an hour ago and collapsed into my chair. So tired.

On the plus side, I got what I needed while I was out, PLUS tried a Cartem’s gluten free donut. Which was sadly only ok.

The snot monster needs to take a chill pill and go away.

I feel your pain. I’m almost over my nasty cold. Just some junk in the throat that makes me cough. Hopefully you’ll be good again in a few days.

The first sip is ever so smokey but with each following sip, the tea really grows on me. Banana and smoke…who knew?? Apparently Stacy.

noms! this one is from kittenna and i was super glad to get a sample of this. I missed being able to order this one which made me super sad. I’m glad i was right to want this one as it’s fantastic. I love the smoke and the banana and it makes me happy. The maple is really in the aftertaste, and i added just a few drops to the last half of my cup to see what that would do – amaaazing! lol I really did love this cup! Thanks so much for sharing kittenna!

You might get more of this then, unless I change my mind with cup #2… I was just not in love.

Not a huge fan, although this tea does set out what it intends to. Definitely smoky (I’d prefer a bit less, personally), and the banana comes out in the first infusion, but not so much later. Maple is present in the aftertaste, but I think some maple syrup would help it out a bit more.

I have to admit, when I added this tea to my last ever Butiki order recently, I was living on the edge.

I’ve never tried a smoky tea like a lapsang before, only smelled them. I’ve actually had a sample of Adagio’s Sherlock tea on my counter forever from when Cavocorax sent it to me this summer…I’m terrified of it. I sniff it every now and again and flinch a little bit.

I like smoke flavored meat. That’s probably it.

But I admit the idea of this intrigued me. I figured it couldn’t hurt to add one more ounce of tea to my order…and if anyone can make me brave a smoky tea for the first time ever, it would be Butiki. And if any added flavours make me enjoy it, it would be bananas and maple!

Success!

I still found the smokiness to be a bit off putting, but overall the tea was enjoyable, even!
A really nice blend of banana, smoke and maple, balanced well. The black base was good and sturdy!

Definitely worth trying, and I think that finishing off the bag over time won’t be a chore at all! Hoping it encourages me to try others in the future!

I think I’m really liking this tea… which is really good because like a fool I mistakenly bought two ounces of this when I meant to buy one and only one ounce of Dusted Nutmeg, which I meant to buy two of. But enough of how I can’t even get my tea order straight…

I took a few sips before adding sugar and I could taste a really nice smoky flavor, but not much else. Once I added sugar, the banana and maple popped out. First thing I taste is smoky banana, then the smoke gives way to banana, then that gives way to maple with a little smoke lingering in the aftertaste. I love smoked things and I love banana flavoring, but I never thought to put the two together! Now I’m contemplating starting my smoker and trying to smoke slices of maple glazed bananas. This tea is really comforting and is helping me let go of the casting mistake I made in class today. Maybe my subconscious knew better when I was placing this order because I suspect this is going to be a tea that is hard to let go of!
