From Butiki Teas

What better way to wind down the day than with chocolate and mint? Our Peppermint Patty pairs organic marshmallow leaf, a naturally sweet caffeine-free herb, with sweet organic peppermint, and mellow milk chocolate. This light and refreshing herbal works well as an after dinner treat. With each sip, the flavor grows stronger and lingers longer. Add a little sugar to intensify the chocolate flavor. Please research all precautions before consuming any herbal tisane.

well if it had to be an unplanned thing, it ought to be a butiki tea. go go 2000th tasting note! woot woot! Still loving this tea a bunch, if only because i really like how smooth it is, while still being one for late nights. Not that caffeine has much affect on me, but friends like having delicious teas at night, and this is one i have NO issues sharing with them. :) thanks stacy! and thank you steepster folks for being awesome!

CHAroma

OMG! 2000?! WHAAAAAAT??? You go, girl!!!!

Sil

lol thanks everyone.. i drink too much..

TeaLady441

Haha. The geek in me sorta wants to take those 2000 notes and analyze them. What percentage of them are black teas? Or teas from Butiki? Etc. That’s a lot of data just sitting there…

Mmmmmm… this is a lovely Butiki tea to end my evening with! I’m just on the 2nd of my two planned Supernatural episodes, drinking this, and knitting some silly mitts for my poor cold kid.

Then I’ll start my GoT Winter is Coming scarf! :D

I found out today that I was the lucky winner of the Butiki contest! I’m so stoked. I picked the blue bird jar because I’m a sucker for birds, and now I’m drinking Butiki tea to celebrate! I’ve only got one cup of this left, and one cup of Caramel Vanilla Assam and then I’m totally cleaned out until my order arrives. That’ll be… odd.

VariaTEA

Congrats!! And I think I will finish my Supernatural episode and then finally sleep.

JustJames

VariaTEA! were you the one that got me started on that damn show? argh! i’ve been trying to remember who it it my head!!!!

VariaTEA

haha was I? I did talk about it a lot about a week or two ago. I do REALLY like it.

JustJames

aw, the first two season were ghastly…. season 4 and 5 are hysterical though.

Crowkettle

Congrats! Please post a picture when you’re done with your GoT Winter is Coming scarf (and your jar). :)

keychange

Yay!! you won! you won!

TeaLady441

Thanks!

Well so far Season 2 is MUCH better than one. I hope that means they just get better. :)

And CrowKettle – if I manage to pull off this scarf I’ll probably spam pics everywhere. :P

TeaLady441

OMG. I’m just watching S2 E15, and this episode is cracked. This is ridiculous. I didn’t realize Supernatural was on purpose funny.

Sil

wonder if i should pick up supernatural again… hmmm

Roswell Strange

Don’t do it… It’s full of pain and sadness :( But in all seriousness, it’s really good, I’m just bitter over last night’s episode.

VariaTEA

Hahaha Roswell, it really hit you hard. It will be okay.

And Cavo, I think in the first season they were trying to make it more a drama but the seasons for sure get funnier as they progress. Just wait for Castiel. Also I like to watch bloopers and cast interviews on YouTube because the cast is honestly hilarious and love each other so much. It’s adorable.

Shmiracles

my sister tells everyone to start with season 3. and we watch the christmas episode Every. Single. Year. and even people who don’t like the show, like the bloopers. It’s true!

Sad, sad sipdown. (157)

My caffeine-free options seem to be dwindling by the minute. This is one I really enjoyed. the marshmallow leaf base makes this fluffy and sweet and helps to keep the mint from being over powering. Furthermore the chocolate in this is a nice milk chocolate flavor that helps make this creamy and smooth.

I may have been checking Butiki’s website daily (okay, hourly) waiting for Nutmeg Cream and Eggnog & Pralines to be posted. Once that happens I can place an order and get more of this tasty treat. Hopefully, I will also be able to add a fair amount of Birthday Cake to that order as well. Then I would be in caffeine-free heaven.

Flavors: Chocolate

Sil

i’m guessing new teas may not be posted until stacy gets back from vacation

VariaTEA

I know but I can still dream :P

MissB

Yea, last I heard it’ll be a bit before she can make some more Birthday Cake.

VariaTEA

Then I will just have to stock up on this to hold me over

Butiki Teas

So, I am probably not supposed to mention this but the new teas will be posted on Monday. Monday is the last day to order before my vacation starts. So, it is possible to get teas before I leave. The birthday cake will probably be after vacation though unless I can get an accurate account of how much is needed to make today.

Sil

hahahaha

MissB

Oh? I’d sent you a note via Steepster Stacy, saying 8 oz (if I remember correctly? It’s been a bit). Was more wondering still if we needed to all order it through one person, or make our own orders. For me though it can wait – perhaps it can’t for VariaTEA! ;)

VariaTEA

I do miss it but luckily I am a patiant person so I don’t mind waiting.

Butiki Teas

MissB-Just sent you a message. Sorry, my Steepster messages are kind of a nightmare at the moment. I just sent you a message. I’m trying to coordinate with a few other people that sent me private messages saying they would like to purchase some Birthday Cake.

TeaLady441

Oh, would Hello Sweetie be showing up any time soon? :O

Butiki Teas

Cavocorax-We are doing a special preview for the month of February where anyone that purchases one of the Amoda blends will receive a 2 cup sample. Then starting in March it will be available full-time.

TeaLady441

Awesome! :D Thanks

Tried a bit of this one last night. Honestly, I drank it pretty quickly so can’t really write the best review, but it was certainly both chocolatey and minty, and I did enjoy it. I can’t believe how many little chocolate chips are in there! Anyhow, I have enough left of my share for at least another few cups, I’m thinking, so will have to properly review it later when I’m less distracted (e.g. not playing guitar/watching Dr. Who).

Preparation

CHAroma

Definitely let us know how the next tasting goes! I almost bought this one this week.

Sil

i had a version of this while stacy was working on it and really enjoyed it as a herbal mint chocolate blend. I’ve got the final version on it’s way to me eventually but if it’s like the sample i had it should be really tasty and not overly expensive too!

Kittenna

LOL Sil, I thought you were making that comment just to me, and was like, um, duh, have I been away so long that you’ve forgotten who I am? Because your final version is en route to you via me :P And therefore, this very bag from which I had my cup’s worth.

Anyhow, CHAroma, if you like chocolate mint, and are looking for it to be caffeine-free, this is great. I would recommend it, and I’m not the biggest peppermint or chocolate/mint fan. And it seems to be quite cheap as well!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian peeps! My family is hundreds of kilometers away but that didn’t stop me from making my own feast today: baked chicken breast, dressing, beets and mushrooms (a Ukrainian dish with tons of garlic), lemon garlic sauteed Brussels sprouts, and mashed sweet potatoes.

I’m ending the meal with a cup of Peppermint Patty to double as dessert and to settle the tummy. Not used to eating that much!

Most of the chocolate chips don’t seem to melt? I steeped it for over five minutes and agitated the water a couple times to get things going. I just ate whatever was left in my measuring cup, but it’s weird when you find a peppermint leaf here and there.

One thing I appreciate about this tea is that the flavours aren’t competing with a tea base. The peppermint is a lot more tingly here than in other blends, too. I could just go for more chocolate to get that true York peppermint patty feel, but maybe there is a way of getting the chocolate chips to melt easier.

I should pick up some chocolate extract. Ohhh, that would be great. And then I can add that to chai and other fun things.

JustJames

happy turkey day, incendiare. =0)

we’re doing chicken too. i love beets…. i can’t eat them anymore, and yet i love them.

yyz

I hope you enjoyed your meal it sounds great. Everyone’s scattered this year as well so we’re probably not doing much.

James, I shouldn’t have beets as well, but I love beet greens, so I’m treating myself this weekend.

TeaLady441

Glad you had a dinner anyway! I always make something, even if it’s just a roasted turkey breast or chicken. I need an excuse to make good food.

Fjellrev

That’s too bad about the lack of beets in your diets. I wish you could all enjoy them. How do you prepare the beet greens, yyz? I’ve always wanted to replicate my Grandma’s beet leaf holubtsi. So heavenly.

That’s a great attitude, Cavo! Besides, poultry is good for you anyway. :D

yyz

To be honest I just love them steamed with salt and pepper and butter or sometimes olive oil. Simple but delicious. Your Grandma’s dish sounds interesting, how would you describe it?

Fjellrev

I can see that working very well though since I love having spinach that way. What my Grandma does is make a filling with rice, dill, and a bit of cream, and then simply roll that mixture up in beet leaves (kind of like cabbage rolls or dolmades if you’ve had those before) and bake them in a casserole dish. They really shouldn’t be that hard to make, now that I think about it.

yyz

That sounds awesome!

JustJames

yyz is far better behaved than i am: i drench the beet tops in brown sugar, cinnamon and butter…. but i have to make up for the lack of turkey somehow (i’m allergic).

Fjellrev

The beet leaf holubtsi are SO addictive. Actually, I just Skyped with my mom and asked about it, and apparently you just pour some cream on top of the holuptsi then put it in the oven. I guess it just sort of gets absorbed by the rice and leaves.

Brown sugar, cinnamon and butter? I NEVER would have thought of that combination! I always think of beet leaves as a savory thing.

Fiance is catching up to me in his True Blood watching, so we can watch the must current two seasons together. It’s like my guiltiest of guilty pleasure shows ever. Anybody read the books, and are they worth it? I’m not typically into paranormal romance stuff, so do they veer too far that way? (Like more than the show?)

On a tea note, though. This is so creamy, and such a solid version of a pretty classic flavor combination. I’ve gotten really picky about my chocolate flavors in tea, and this one is definitely very good. I’ll miss you, Peppermint Patty.

(I totally thought of her http://bit.ly/J4XlBi as I typed that last sentence).

VariaTEA

The newest two seasons are not great and the books are not the best I have read. They are quick reads that you don’t need much brain power to follow. Personally I prefer the show though and they veer into supernatural romance about the same amount or maybe a slight bit more than the show but not much if I remember correctly

Can something smell creamy? if you smell this, there’s something past the mint. It is a not a dairy smell, its almost a sweet smell. Maybe it’s from the teaspoon of turbinado. Yeah, I tossed my no sugar rule out the window for this because how on earth can you drink peppermint patty without sugar (and probably cream except I don’t like the taste of dairy so I’ll have to do without the creaminess).

Sweetened, this tea is amazing. Not wintry peppermint, but sweet warm peppermint. And really, I just want to hold the liquor in my mouth for a long time so the taste buds go “yeah, yeah!” You ever get like that, where you know that if you actually drink it, you’ll just have to take another sip and another, whereas if you just take a sip and hold it you prolong the sensation until it becomes unbearable and you just have to swallow that tea. Although now you can’t taste anymore because it is on its way to your stomach and so you take another sip. And then you make another pot, and then you go online and buy 4 oz or more… you get where this is headed?

I don’t even know what else to actually tell you. There is a lot of chocolate inside and the dry leaf smells more chocolate than mint to me, but once steeped it doesn’t smell much like chocolate and it doesn’t taste like chocolate, it tastes like sweet, sweet, delicious mint.

If you made up your mind you don’t like mint, just prove yourself wrong and buy some of this. It’s available in 1/2 oz so you won’t go broke. And I’m sure you’ll always find willing souls if somehow you do not like it. Heck, I’ll buy it off you as long as you don’t tamper with it too much.

I often hold tea, and other drinks, in my mouth for minutes at a time. I have been doing to since I was a child. I often swish it around too. I never knew why I did this, but I think you explained it well about the sensation it gives you.

Sil

silly ipad ate my comment – long story short, really enjoying you come to love stacy’s teas heh

Omg, Sil, I will go broke :)

probably :) that why you find cheaper, every day teas and hers become when you wanna treat teas :)

This is one of the teas I go through so fast, I barely realize it’s just disappeared before my eyes. That’s true of the few herbals I have though. Considering I essentially only drink black teas, those few herbals serve to mix it up and reduce my caffeine intake.

This one is delightfully creamy from the chocolate chips, with a not overwhelming amount of peppermint. Peppermint is generally reserved for when I’m sick, so when it’s in a tea that I drink a lot, that’s quite an accomplishment.

I just finished packaging up some teas for my friend tomorrow. She asked me to bring some teas so she can start exploring the tea world. When I inquired as to if she preferred flavoured or straight, she wasn’t sure what straight tea was. Flavoured it is!

Preparation

Fjellrev

It’s funny because I know a few people who don’t understand the concept of a flavoured tea, and are only aware of the straight teas. Go figure!

TeaBrat

mmm. I had some of this yesterday :)

Yum! I really dig Butiki Teas’ Peppermint Patty! I would like to say it is simple, yet effective – mint and chocolate is just simply a great pairing. However, this tea tastes just like those peppermint patty candies (just not as sweet) that it is really impressive!

The tea also has a nice fluffyness to it during sip, great (vegan!) chocolate flavor, ending with a minty crunch.
