Wrapped up yesterday with this interesting blend. It feels like a tropical fruit punch in scent – a strong scent both dry and steeped. The flavor is not as intense, but it has the notes I’d expect from the scent. I’ve got to admit to being generic about tropical fruit because I don’t know many of them, and I couldn’t even tell you if I’ve tasted dragonfruit! I taste tropical fruit with a good sweet/tart balance that leans a little more toward tart, and it’s all smooth and tasty. I really want to try this one iced, so I’ll be buying more.

BrutaliTeas Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 6

Lol, the name… This appeared to be mostly fruit pieces with just a bit of white tea, so I only used 8 ounces of water for the whole sample. Dry, it smelled like some kind of tropical fruit gummy.

Mine didn’t have much hibiscus and steeped up a very pale pinkish-coral hue. I’m surprised by how mild it tastes, given the strong smell. It does taste like dragonfruit to me, and I also get quite a bit of pineapple and some apple. Overall it’s quite a light-tasting cup, with the refreshing, almost cucumbery, spa-like tropical notes of the dragonfruit combining well with a pop of sweet-tart pineapple. There’s something adding a musty floral note, I guess maybe the rose? Either that or it’s just part of the flavoring.

A tasty cup! I might have to order a bit of this to try a few more times, I feel like such a chunky tea probably isn’t very well represented in such a small little sample tin.

Well this was Advent day 6… Can’t really describe the flavor because I’m allergic to it. I didn’t pay attention to the ingredients until after my lip started burning so I had to hand this over to mom. She really enjoyed it, said she preferred it hot.

Really digging this blend I asked for as a sample. Maybe should have gotten a little bit more. I personally get the pineapple, orange, and a few rosy accents the most, and I shared some while playing a D and D like campaign with friends. They were really, really into it, and two of us went in for seconds.

I got the dragonfruit mostly in the first steep, but not so much in the second steep. Pineapple is still the biggest thing I notice, but like my friends said, this is a pineapple person’s kind of tea. That’s weird to say considering this is a dragonfruit tea, and dragonfruit does that tropical component, but it was not as prominent. It’s also nice and light, which I enjoy.

I thought I’d want more white tea in it, but I like it adds slightly more body to the fruit of the tea. Thankfully, I don’t get as much from the hibiscus. These are also decent silver needles that aren’t over the top expensive, and that makes my inner tea nerd happy. I’m personally really satisfied with this tea overall.

This company’s tea names are delightful.

YES! Brilliant way to sell them. And their blends actually have decent quality bases-it’s not just the usual Ceylon or Assam all the time.

Sounds like a good balance! I particularly want to try that violet oolong, so this is all firmly cementing them near the top of the list of future tea explorations :)

I knew I was going to be into this as soon as I smelled the dry leaf – it’s very sweet and syrupy smelling with a strong tropical and just a bit funky dragonfruit/fruit punch sort of aroma mixed with strawberry gummy candies…

The taste is quite good and pretty similar to the dry leaf aroma. I’d say it’s about even part strawberry and dragonfruit in taste. The strawberry reminds me of those strawberry hard candies with the soft gooey center that are wrapped in a strawberry printed foil that almost ever grandmother I’ve ever known has kept in a purse or little bowl in their house. The dragonfruit has a bit of a waxy kind of tropical funk to it that I like while also being sort of saturated and fruit punch-like. Not a ton of white tea comes through compared to those main flavours, but the white tea does make for a good neutral caffeinated base and it appeals to me to have something so juicy and sweet like this while still being caffeinated. I would definitely want to try this one iced or cold brewed next! With all of that said, though…

There’s something deeply familiar about this tea though aside from what I’ve already mentioned, and it is driving me nuts that I can’t exactly name what’s triggering this sense of deja vu…
