2022 Bird & Blend Advent calendar Day #4

I did not go into work today but my sick time is up for the year and will need to be back tomorrow. As it’s just Noon now and I want a nap, we’ll see how work goes on Friday. Hopefully, I can stay in the office more than be out in the building. It’s snowing! So I picked out Snowball tea to sit and watch the snow fall. I love the cozy feeling of being in a snow globe.

I love the smell of the tea pyramid- dark chocolatey and a sweetness. It tastes a little bit like a dark chocolate Almond Joy. No not a mounds, I do taste a little nuttiness in the mug. Mini marshmallows aren’t included in the tea bag version of this so I do wonder how much they add/detract to the flavor. I think this is a great sub for when we have Hot Cocoa and I want something less heavy. I enjoyed this one and think I might have another mug with some milk added to see if that enhances the cream factor. I definitely would purchase this again for my winter cupboard

I have been drinking this tea a lot with fairytale of NY, well not with with xD, but i cycle between them and from all the teas i have i drink these two a lot, and honestly this one is truly lovely and sweet i love it so much, i always have a tea bag with me wherever I go, i am addicted to that shit damn it xD, even tho its not my favourite tea but i do enjoy it a lot, also i know it’s summer and its kinda inconvenient to drink hot tea right now and to be honest it’s kinda a hell of a thing to do but i am still drinking it and enjoying every sip.

I mean i don’t really drink every day and every evening cause if do it would have been over by the first week i got it knowing how much tea i consume on a daily basis, ok i don’t make too much sense and i am talking too much but hear me out GIVE IT A DAMN TRY its worth it

Ps: thank you for these amazing tea, i love you so much !

Bird & Blend Advent Calendar 2021: Day 18!

Creamy coconut on a muted black tea base. I don’t get much chocolate, but that’s OK with me. This was nice and tasty without being cloyingly coconutty, and it didn’t lose flavor even after it cooled off in my KeepCup. I would’ve liked to sit and savor it a little more, but I’m getting an oil change for my trusty steed (read: 14-year-old Prius) this morning and wanted to get out the door on time.

I have no complaints about this easy drinker.

Day 4 of Bird and Blend’s 2020 Advent Calendar – I’ve had rotten luck with a lot of coconut-centric teas in the past. Either something (likely the coconut) in them had gone off by the time I got to them, or it just smelled like it. And how it smelled, it tasted and I couldn’t get behind them. I went in to this tea with mixed expectations – everything should be fine, smelled fine… but experience warned me to be on guard!

I need not have worried – this was absolutely lovely, and honestly my first good experience with coconut in tea in ages! Whilst I imagined it being evocative of a (milk or dark) chocolate snowball, in the cup what I was reminded of a white Ferrero Rocher snowball – creamy, light, with a refreshing hit of coconut. I’ve never been the greatest fan of those little chocolate nuggets (though neither will I turn them down!), but this was even, I would say, an improvement on them! Whereas white chocolate can quickly get overpoweringly sweet, the creaminess in this tea was gentle and well-balanced. I’m finding so far with the B&B teas that they accomplish more with the flavour themselves (and less with subtler sweeteners) than I’m used to, and it’s really been interesting to find something can feel sweet without actually being so. Did I pick up on marshmallow or dark/milk chocolate? No – but what I got was delightful anyway, and a welcome end to the decade of coconut horror I’d grown accustomed to!

B&B Advent 2021 Day 18

This smells strongly of coconut and melted dark chocolate (more like 70% dark chocolate) – delicious. The scent doesn’t come across as strongly in taste, a bit more watered down, but it could be my enormous mug XD. The chocolate takes a backseat and the coconut is more at the forefront. Overall, a tasty cuppa!

My 1,000th tasting note!

I thought about choosing something special to mark the occasion, but in the end I’d had this one set aside to try so I went with it. Kind of regret it now. This isn’t really what I expected. I mean, it’s chocolate and coconut, but it’s kind of a weak chocolate and I’m not tasting any sort of marshmallow flavor. I bought it around the holidays, so I don’t think it would be too old yet. Maybe I’ll try two teabags next time instead of one.

The good part about the whole thing is that I got to celebrate my thousandth tasting note with my younger brother. I haven’t seen him in a couple of months since we’re still being really careful, but he needed to come by and get a few things out of the attic so we took some time to visit and have tea. He had a really delicious-smelling Earl Grey, which might have added to my instant regret over my tea choice.

Blech! This is ruined with age. Damn you, coconut! It’s all I can taste. When it was still hot, the sweet creamy coconut and chocolate was sort of mildly present before a slightly sour aftertaste, but now my cup is cooling the rancid coconut has completely taken over. Rating based on how it was when it was good. I’ll have to purchase more next winter and give this tea the write-up it deserves, because it really was very tasty once.

This tea was the one in the Christmas gift set I was most excited about, as I love anything coconut! And this one delivers flavor-wise with strong notes of chocolate and coconut with a hint of creamy sweetness from the marshmallows. I do wish the base tea were a bit more present, as the flavor seems a bit on the thin side. It definitely needs a touch of milk to bring out its full potential. Not the best blend of this type I’ve ever had, but still quite good!

Bird & Blend Tea Advent Calendar Day 11:

This one didn’t work for me. The first sip I could almost taste the chocolate, but it was edged with a bitter bite. The sip ended on an astringent note. I didn’t even finish the cup. So for me, this one is a pass.

Disappointing!

Martin Bednář

I expected way more from this one as well.

Maddy Barone

It’s too bad. But there is bound to be a couple of teas in a collection that don’t work for someone.

tea-sipper

I finished my OLD sample of this yesterday. It seems I enjoyed it more than you did.

Maddy Barone

It has some good reviews, so I know some people enjoyed it far more than I did. It certainly sounded like it would be delicious.

Really nice, full, sweet black tea — I can’t say I noticed the marshmallows made any huge flavor difference but they looked really cute.
