From Bird & Blend Tea Co.

A melt in the mouth caramel delight, inspired by one of our favourite biscuits! Now, we all love dunking a one of these wonders in tea, but how about actual caramel biscuit flavoured tea? Now that’s surely a winner!
This loose leaf black tea blend has to be tried to be believed, dunking extra biccies optional, but always encouraged.

Limited edition blend only available until 1st July 2023. Biscuits to dunk not included!

Ingredients: Indian Assam, Sri Lankan Black Tea, Roasted Dandelion Root, Stevia, Natural Flavouring

AJRimmer Advent Day 6

My whole kitchen smelled amazing while this tea was brewing! It has the most mouthwatering buttery-sweet aroma, just like cookies baking in the oven. And the flavor is nearly is good as the scent: sweet and rich with notes of caramel and butter and baked goods all on a nice robust black tea base. I would be completely in love with this one if it weren’t for the stevia the popped out in the aftertaste…a disappointing finish to an otherwise lovely tea.

BOO stevia lol.

AJRimmer

Shoot, I didn’t check the B&B labels for stevia because I incorrectly had faith that they wouldn’t include it in their teas :P sorry about that!

Inkling

No worries, AJRimmer! The blend itself is so good, it almost makes up for the stevia. :)

I know stevia is arguably one of the most polarizing ingredients a tea company can put in a tea blend. Like, holy fuck, do I intimately know that. I have so many conflicting personal and professional opinions on stevia. So many. Though, I do generally agree with the overall idea that people should have control the amount and type of sweetener in their tea blend.

With all that said… I don’t usually mind the taste of stevia when I’m just drinking teas for my own enjoyment. In fact, I would say this tea is like 90% delicious. It’s exactly the flavour I picture and want when I see “caramelized biscuit” as a flavour. Golden, malty, buttery, rich and just kind of cozy in a nostalgic way. Sometimes I find Bird and Blend’s black tea base (especially the Sri Lankan one they use so often) abrasively astringent, but I didn’t here. It was just a really good tea.

Except for the stevia in the finish. It did, actually, kind of bug me. Not enough to ruin the tea, but just enough to knock like 10% off an otherwise perfect score.
