Finally. The free tea provided by my workplace is bagged, but they’ve just switched to Bigelow. This may not be a particularly great tea, but it suits my “I’m not awake yet” pre-meeting needs. It’s not too harsh, benefits well from sugar and those little half-and-half cups, and has enough caffeine to wake me up. Plus, I don’t need three teabags to get it strong enough like I did with the Stash or Tazo black teas. We do have filters on our water lines, so that makes a big difference too. It’s drinkable for what I need.

I’d gladly accept free tea of any kind:) It’s awesome they provide it.

Nice that they have something other than coffee! My husband complains about the free coffee at work. He doesn’t drink coffee and he thinks it is some kind of discrimination.

Meg

LOL it could be! Yes, we’re lucky. free coffee, teas, and swiss miss cocoa. Although they’ve just had a new coffee machine installed, and the smell was awful this morning.

Cofftea

Oh yum! The only way I can drink hot cocoa made w/ water is if it’s black coffee or tea.

I have found a way to make this otherwise unpleasant tea absolutely delicious! Just use one bag of this, add one bag of Four O’Clock’s Chocolate Spice (no milk!), and you get something wonderful. It’s like some kind of decadent dessert. I will call this experiment a resounding sucess.

Bigelow Tea

Wow…that sounds interesting…thanks for sharing!

Some mornings you don’t need an excellent tea as much as you need a warm mug to toast your frosty fingers. This worked.

Cofftea

AMEN! But if that’s the real reason, just put hot water in it;)

Tried this tonight and it is good. Very decent bagged tea at a very modest price. All in all a good find on the shopping spree today:)

I am not a fan of this teabag tea. It has a bitter and bumpy flavor. This tea does not have a good flavor. It does not taste really good on the first sip either. It is just barely ok. The flavor gets worse when I drink more of this tea. This tea always has that bitter, bumpy poor quality tea flavor. I drink this one in the morning after I drink my coffee.

What’s a “bumpy flavor”?

Found this in my suitcase. Brought this back from vacation, but can’t remember where I got it. Steeped it w/ the ginger I used for my morning matcha. Was shocked it said to only steep it 1-2 min. Eh. Ok. Just not a black tea person.

It’s not that shocking that it has such a short steep time. Bagged blacks need to be steeped for far less than loose leaf, since they release tannins at a much faster rate, making the infusion potentially more astringent and bitter.

I was actually shocked when I started drinking loose leaf that blacks get steeped for 4-5 minutes, because that seemed like an awfully long time initially.

It might not be because you’re not a black tea person. It looks like no one is impressed by this tea.

I’ve tried several English Breakfast teas lately and this one by Bigelow is a very pleasant tasting formula. I tend to steep all of my cups of tea for five minutes and prefer to drink them straight up. Using this method, the Bigelow English Breakfast tea has a steady enjoyable flavor, but not overbearing in any way. Only a nice light aftertaste exists when I finish the cup. The price is very reasonable. I will definitely keep this tea in the rotation of my morning lineup.

I steep this extra long for a fuller flavor. Tastes good with milk and sugar. Usually a mid morning pick me up.

I thought Bigelow English Breakfast and Darjeeling tasted the same when I first tried them, but this was when I was new to tea and my palate was even less refined than it is now. I have since moved on to loose leaf, but this is an acceptable fall-back plain black tea.
