Tea #3

I won’t lie, I picked this up mostly because the outer tea bag wrapper; which is new for my collection.

And it is plain tea, which is very welcomed in the afternoon, when I am all tired and I don’t want to discover depths of the teas.

This one is exactly that. Plain, Ceylon tea, not much to write home about. Two minutes steep are sufficient, even for larger cup than usual.

As I wrote, not much to write about. Basic, and luckily not bitter nor too astringent, so, in the end… pretty much decent plain black tea in tea bag.

Great tea! Love the flavor of this tea – I would describe it as leathery with some citrus hints. Perfect plain without milk or sugar, the way I like it. So happy my local grocery stores carry this one at a low price, as it will do when I run out of loose leaf teas. Might even make this one my usual for the office, so I don’t have to deal with tea infuser. I only wish that Bigelow offered more regional tea blends (Keemun, Assam, Yunnan, Kenya, etc) in this format! I know there is Bigelow Darjeeling, so I’ll have to check that one out.

I really enjoyed this tea. I don’t like bitter teas. The first time I steeped it for 1:15 and the second for 3:30 and both times it tasted great. It was quite flavorful and overall enjoyable with only the slightest hint of bitterness.

One of the sellers I purchased some tea cups from included a bag of this with my package. It’s pretty thick — I’ve only steeped it for about 1 minute plus and the liqueur was already a deep amber. One cube of sugar wasn’t quite enough to balance out the astringency and so I plopped in another, which turned out to be half a cube too many. I’m sure I would’ve been able to enjoy it much better if I hadn’t given it a sugar overdose (and milk) but despite that, it still tasted decent. This tea is strong and definitely gives your engine a kickstart when you’re feeling lethargic.
