I got a sample of this and was not impressed. It was very perfumey, and not really smooth. I tamed it by mixing it 50-50 with Adagio’s Vanilla black tea. That did the trick! Now, it’s creamy and what I expected an Earl Grey Cream to taste like. This also solved the problem of what to do with the Vanilla Black tea that was only okay. This blend elevated both of them.
I still will not buy either of these teas, though.
The rating I’m giving corresponds to the unblended version. Blended, I would give this tea an 85.

The scent of this tea is lovely, full of citrus, floral and vanilla notes; however, the flavor is mostly floral and there is an unpleasant aftertaste.

This was steeped using boiling water for about 3 minutes. The flavor was barely there, so I left it for another minute at at 4 minutes, it seemed better.

The tea has a light bitterness, but it’s not outrageous. I don’t taste much of the vanilla/cream that was promised because the floral flavors steal the show. The problem is that they aren’t terribly pleasant.

The tea feels a little chalky, and the aftertaste is strong. I have tried Earl Greys that I like, but I don’t think this will be one of them.

From the Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box #2

Meh. The vanilla in this is nice and strong, but the base tea seems weak which makes the tea seem watery. I could probably play with the parameters and find something that I enjoy, but since I’m already in love with Zen Tea’s EGC I will just stick with that one.

Too bad about this one~ The name sounds intoxicating

Thanks for selling a sample of this, TeaTiff! Adagio’s Vanilla is my favorite vanilla tea, so this should be good paired with Earl Grey. I’m not sure I’ve tried Adagio’s EG before if it weren’t mixed in a blend. It’s also got the cream blend in it, which I wish I could also try on its own. There are orange peel pieces here too.

Steep #1 // just boiled // 2 1/2 min
A lovely EG – it isn’t the best but it isn’t the worst. It might be a nice one for those who don’t like a lot of bergamot. But to me, the bergamot is just a touch too light, as well as the vanilla/cream. The black tea compliments the flavor well. The second steep was lighter, a bit weaker. If this were the only EG that existed, I wouldn’t be complaining. There are so many nice ones out there though! The flavor of the second steep was lower.

I have been really bad about posting reviews lately, mostly due to the site issues. But it seems to be mostly normal now, at least I can see other people’s reviews.

This is a sip down, and not a tea I will ever purchase again, but it’s a bit nostalgic because it’s one of the first loose leaf teas I ever had. When I first got interested in loose leaf, I asked a friend where he ordered from and he said Adagio. I ordered four sample packets of tea and this was one of them. Now I have mostly “moved past” Adagio and on to teas that I think are better, but they were definitely the gateway drug for me. So good job Adagio!

The last couple of days I have been picking low-hanging fruit from my cupboard, things with only a couple of servings in them so I can clear some out. I finished off two Simple Loose Leaf samples Cheri had sent (thank you Cheri!) and a Yunnan Jig (Adagio) I had gotten from a TTB. Unfortunately two weren’t in my cupboard officially, so I only reduced the number on here by two, but that’s still ok. EFFECTIVELY I’m down four.

The flavoring is not so much cream as it is vanilla. I had this one just as a woke up, which I’m trying not to let become a habit, because I’d hate to be dependent on something to wake up. The liquor is smooth as it goes down, but it leaves the mouth feeling terribly dry.

Evening reprise: The dryness isn’t as prominent on the second steep, but that may be because I sweetened it with a Peep. I know I’m crazy, but it’s just past Easter, and I used to do this all the time into my coffee/hot chocolate. With the tinge of sweetness, the base really rounds itself out. The Bermagot is gone gone gone though. I can’t remember if it was there this morning because I was seriously half asleep when I posted the first half of this tasting note.

I found this one super drying too.

I really like a few of the EGC’s I have tried so when I saw this up for swap I grabbed it out of curiosity. Thank-you AnnaEA for satisfying my curiosity. This one unfortunately is not for me. I get a hint of cream, and the peppery aftertaste of the bergamont, but none of the citrus. The base is weak or comes through with a watery finish.

I’m a sucker for cream earl greys, so I had high expectations. It smells great straight out of the bag and is smooth and a little sweet. You can add milk or sweetener if you like, but it’s great straight as well.

I got a sample of this tea from Adagio as I’m looking for a more local tea to replace Murchie’s Earl Gray Cream Tea that I love. This tea isn’t as good, but I find it very drinkable. I like the vanilla note along with the bergamot.

My first sip of this was horrible. It tasted like eating vanilla icing, which isn’t something I tend to enjoy. I was all ready to give this a bad review and then I took a second sip and it mellowed out into a slightly sweet, smooth earl grey. Huh.

It smells interesting in the bag. A slightly odd mix of the bitterness of orange peel and the sweetness of intense vanilla. It brews up slightly darker than the usual earl grey and tastes fine. I’m not wowed but it won’t be a trial finishing off my sample. After that alarming first sip it’s not over-sweet at all, and in fact it could do with being somewhere more in between my first and second tastes. It does leave a chalky feel in the mouth, which I’ve noticed with other earl greys but don’t especially like.
