From Adagio Teas

Is a black tea grown at 1200 meters above sea level in the Anhui province of China. Perhaps the most famous of Chinese varieties, prized for its rich, toasty flavor, mineral flinty notes and smoky, sometimes incense aroma. Our Keemun Rhapsody is a complex showing of excellent quality Keemun. Toasty, biscuity aroma with a browned apple sweetness. Earthy fruit flavor, notes of aromatic lychee fruit. Lingering perfumy smokiness long after the cup is finished.

Ingredients: Chinese Keemun black tea

Steeping Instructions: Steep at 212° for 3-5 minutes.

This is a beautiful tea. It’s earthy and sweet, and I suspect it’s going to become a favorite.

A very nice combination of flavors. Similar to Fujian Baroque but with an added smokiness and a floral undertone. A new favorite in the rotation.

Doesn’t have a very strong smell, but nice. but i suppose my nose is kinda stuffy. mmm, there’s something there i just can’t quite put my finger on.

Well, it seems to have a fairly light taste, at least when it’s still tongue-burning hot. Not that i would ever burn my tongue… ahem. Anywho, it’s got a bright taste that i like. Doesn’t taste really heavy like some stuff can. Yup, pretty good.

I found this tea yesterday at the market and thought I would give it a try. This is a black tea with a mild flavor and rich copper color. I did steep for 5 minutes and added one packet of sugar.
I have a small sample of this tea that I feel I will restock in the future.
I agree this is a comfort tea.

This is the second Keemun I have tasted, and I prefer this one. The flavor isn’t extremely strong, which I like. It has a nice nutty and malty scent and flavor. :)

Started my morning off yesterday with a mug of this Keemun while exploring a “new to me” manga called Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen – I’m not sure if the goal of the manga was to make me super hungry but it certainly felt that way because that’s exactly what happened!

I think it also really heightened the tasting notes I was getting from the tea though – and what lovely notes to have heightened! The quality scale for Keemun is pretty steep, with a lot of teas on the two extreme ends of the spectrum and few in the middle – but for the price point that this one retails at I think it’s very good. Not as nice as the Keemun sold as part of Adagio’s Masters line up, mind you – but if you want a cheaper option I don’t think you would be missing out by opting for this one.

The leaf style is also beautiful – medium leaning larger very twisty leaves, all tangled up together and interwoven with a darker umber/black colour and red undertones. Really pretty to look at; I’ve always loved twisty leaves so much.

The taste is pretty “classic Keemun” – woody and umami out of the gate with hints of smoke and tannic but undertones of jammy currants, raisin, and brandied fruits. Full bodied, brisk and lingering in the throat after each sip with a warmth in the chest about halfway through the cup. I was definitely sad when I reached the bottom of the mug, which happened way faster than I had expected it to…

I thought I didn’t want to try a Keemun black tea and then I read this review lol – too many teas on my want-to-try list!!

That’s how I feel every time I watch Great British Bake-off. Another piece of Japanese media with that effect is a J-dorama that is on Netflix called “Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman” about a salaryman obsessed with sweets that goes around Japan eating all the desserts. I’m always like, “Why do I not have anything delicious to go with my tea?” when I watch stuff like that!

Received this as a sample, wishing I had more. This tea was very warming in a chocolate since. There was a sweetness that added to the pleasure. It was given a very perfect name. It really is a rhapsody on the though
