Whenever I open my tin of Leo I am always charmed by the fact that it smells almost exactly like an orange creamsicle. It is a very refreshing blend. The citrus notes aren’t artificial or bitter, but very creamy. I steeped it for 3 minutes and got a very robust cup. This uplifting blend is exactly what I need right now. I’m writing a thesis! Yay.

So, this was a free sample. I’ll admit that I started out prepared not to like this too much. Though I am a Leo, I have always been laughably mismatched with my Zodiac sign (I’ve been told this is because I was born “on a cusp”, but my eyes glaze over at that point). Regardless, most things Leo-themed are not for me.

But this was actually good! Nice gentle blend of oolong and rooibos. And while I usually don’t like tea with citrus (I know, the deck was stacked against this one for me), the way the orange hits at the end is fun and pleasant. It’s just a very bright tea that’s good for a snowy day. Not sure if I’d buy more of it, but I’m happy to have a small sample.

This tea is from my swap with Arshness.

The dry leaf is a varied mixture of chamomile blossoms, rooibos, oolong balls, and some dried orange peel. It didn’t have much of a smell – I could catch some chamomile and orange but not a lot else.

I actually had this one twice. The first time I did a heaping teaspoon and I felt the tea didn’t really taste like anything. There was a little bit of chamomile and orange but it mostly tasted like lightly flavored hot water.

So the second time I did two teaspoons for the same time and same amount of water. It’s much better this time. Still kind of lightly flavored, and a little bit bitter (I guess because of the oolong when using so much tea). I added sugar which made it easier to drink. I taste chamomile immediately when drinking, then I get orange and vanilla with a bit of woody rooibos. I don’t get much oolong aside from a strong bitter aftertaste. I’m not sure whether this tea was a little old and that’s why it’s so lightly flavored or if that’s just the way it’s meant to be. Either way, not a huge fan…

Favorite as always. I usually steep for 6 minutes, but today I steeped for 4 with good results.
