From 52teas

This is a tea for me! Premium Sri Lankan (Ceylon) black tea blended with freeze-dried raspberries and birthday cake and raspberry flavors. If this doesn’t put a smile on your face, you might need to check your pulse.

Holy Raspberry! Even with how old this tea is, it went unopened until now. The smell is still strong with the dry leaf and the taste is divine! I love me a raspberry tea and this one is pretty great.

Just took inventory on my tea cupboard so I’ll be revamping that soon. I want a matcha latte now but I have no milk that isn’t chocolate flavoured…

Sipdown (137)

Made this as a tea smoothie and though the drink went down quickly and tasted great, I don’t remember specifics because I was a bit distracted by my sister bringing her new puppy to visit!!

Got the house to myself for a few hours so I’m going to see how many sipdowns I can complete.

This will be #1. I agree with everybody’s reviews on this one. Not enough of the birthday cake flavor and the flavor I am picking up isn’t a nice raspberry but more of a chemical flavor. Not my favorite, but I’m still glad I was able to try it. I bet this one would be better cold brewed but I won’t be able to try it since I used the rest of the bag on this cup. Thanks Marzipan for sending it to me!

Too bad – raspberry birthday cake sounds awesome.

Maybe we can petition LiberTeas to create her own version? ;)

That would be a good idea! Oh LiberTeas. . . .

Currently drinking a cup of this – I have to admit that when I saw the name of the tea, I was excited and thought – oh my goodness, that sounds amazing! Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste quite as good as it sounded. It’s alright, I guess, but I wanted more from it than it delivered.

I’m tasting mostly black tea which is pleasant, of course. The raspberry tastes off and i really don’t taste a lot of cake-y flavor.

Marzipan

My thoughts exactly on this one.

I think these are just about everybody’s view on this one.

I thought that this would be a lovely last tea from 52Teas before the big transition over to new owners. I was really looking forward to the raspberry and cake flavors, but it’s really not at all what it should be. I mostly taste the black tea base with a tiny bit of artificial raspberry. I think there is something in the background that is trying to be cake, but it just tastes strange. It’s a fine fake raspberry black tea blend, but if you’re looking for raspberry birthday cake, it’s definitely not here. I think there are other plain raspberry teas that taste much more natural, too.

Well, although I’m disappointed with this one, I’m excited to try some of the new flavors that the new 52Teas will be creating!

Not a fan of this one. The raspberry tastes fake, and there’s a play-doughy flavour going on as well. Maybe that’s the cake? I was really hoping for a tea along the lines of Raspberry Cream, but it was not meant to be.

Try it with chocolate tea, it works then.

Hmm, I’m sorry you didn’t like it. I thought it was pretty good. Maybe my palate is off since I haven’t had tea in so many months. I didn’t get anything fake or play-doughy. :/

My computer works again. Ended up having to reset it after all.

Since it’s now summer, I decided to have this iced. I did make it in a mason jar. Slightly sweetened really brings out both the raspberry and cake flavour. Having another, uh, jar while going on adventures with the original Enterprise.

Stephanie

Glad you got it fixed!

The dry leaf aroma is strongly raspberries. The brewed tea aroma is the same and the taste is fairly one dimensional. I added a bit of Truvia and now it’s sweeter like cake. Mostly though, this one is a lightly flavored raspberry tea. The base here is nice and complementary. It lends a certain cake-y-ness to the flavor. I can imagine I’m drinking a white cake with raspberry icing. It’s not an in-your-face cake taste. It’s more of a pensive allusion to cake instead. I like that I can enjoy this tea without milk, but it definitely needs the sweetener. Overall, a pretty good tea.

I was curious about this one.

CHAroma

It’s good. The raspberry flavor is very nice. Just not in-your-face cake flavor. It’s more subtle and nuanced so you have to use a bit of imagination.
